The Archos DVR is a good solution, fairly good quality. See if you can grab a refurbished or 2nd hand one, mines only got the 30GB hard drive, but you can still store many hours of video on that.
Note# if you go with the Oracle Diversity Controller, it has Two video outputs, one can be for the glasses and one for recording, very handy.
Don't forget, if you do decide to get Oracle? you will need 2 identical RX's, on the same channel as the heli TX, theres always only 1 TX on the heli which ever way you go.
2 patches for the video RX's gives the best result. These are positioned close to the ground (avoids interference) slightly apart and slightly tilted up, both looking at the flight area. 5.8GHz is 'picky' about signal path, the Oracle method helps to eliminate these problems by choosing the best video signal at the time.
As for frequencies, I've heard some over here going with the 900 MHz video kit, this is probably the ideal frequency with it's inherent better range, but, not legal in UK
I'll stick to legal 5.8GHz. With the hi-gain patches I have, I'm probably expecting about 500M range, with some tweaking, probably 1KM.
