I went out for a quick flight at lunchtime, powered her up, did the usual pre-flight checks and all seemed well. I increase the revs and lifted off, in hind sight maybe she was a little down on power but that's easy to say afterwards. After a few seconds in the air, the revs dropped she floated back down to the ground. Then I noticed the smoke.....I promptly removed the canopy and unplugged the battery but the ESC has had it. I'd read a few posts complaining about smoking ESC's before but I thought Esky had sorted it on the V2. I've only had a dozen or so flights and I'm not impressed!
So where do I go from here? Do I get another Esky ESC and hope it was just bad luck or do I upgrade to something else? I could do without any unneccesary expense right now, so without spending silly money is there a better alternative?
Also, would a different ESC just be a straight swap, plug & play, or would other parts also need to be changed and setup? I would prefer to keep things simple until I've become confident at flying/repairing this heli.
Thanks for any advice,
Chris.
