Why?
The answer is simple, you don't have the experience, that's it, end of.
A car is RTF after you have learnt
The space shuttle is RTF after you have learnt
A real helicopter or plane are both RTF after you have learnt.
Life is RTF once you have learnt to walk and talk
Why then do they have RTF stamped all over the box?
The answer is simple, after you have straightened out the blades and checked the helicopter over and inserted the 8AA batteries into the transmitter then it is RTF by someone with experience or someone who takes the time to get to know what all of the transmitter controls are for take it one step at a time.
What does that mean?
Never try to hover within minutes of receiving your helicopter, its not going to work (unless you already have experience)
Practice on a flight simulator to get the hang of your transmitter.
Start off by with the intention, not to take off but to find out what the controls do without wanting to get the helicopter airbourne above you head which will end up with you panicking and trying to operate a transmitter that you know nothing about!
My helicopter drifts to the left or right what wrong with it?
Nothing unless you have crashed it as you simply haven't got the experience or knowledge to know that small but constant inputs are required for a RC helicopter, just like the real ones.
When I first posted This post I was sure it would cut down on the amount of emails, pm's and posts that I get in relation to beginners attempting to fly straight from the box, it has not worked as they all have increased.
This saddens me as the reason for writing this and other posts was with one aim only to keep away the sadness and bring the joy of RC helicopters into your life, so please don't rush it or you'll be RTF (Ready To Fail)
Thanks for reading.
Joe
