Hi,

I thought I should a quick heli-blog (is that a term Smile ) of my new lama and the process I have gone through to get it from RTF (Ready to crash I think) to actually flying in a reasonably stable fashion.

The real help was Earlgrey, whose patience and time was greatly appreciated, so anyone getting frustrated with their lama, stick in there, it is possible Smile

Righty oh, so out of the box I thought I would apply some throttle and see how it behaved sitting on the floor. It was a somewhat confused little heli, so I took some small vids of how it behaved with max trim settings:

Taken with a mobile, realplayers opens these fine..

Max Left trim under throttle:

Neutral trim under throttle:

Max right trim under throttle:

Max Right trim under right hand control stick:

Max left trim under right hand control stick:

As you can tell, while in neutral trim, a hover sure was not going to happen, and not a great deal of difference with all the max trim settings.

Next, my link settings out of the box, after discussion with Earlgrey I stumbled across my problem Smile

Right link:

Flybar:

What is that flybar doing! If I held it horizontal, the rotors were a world away from horizontal too!

So, what I did next was to screw that flybar link down until when I held it horizontal, the rotor blades were horizontal too.

Wow, what a difference:

I particularly like the Uhhohh...just when I landed (*cough* *cough*) my son saw the crash and went uhhohh...

These vids are hard landing ones, but this is due to my newbieship controlling the heli, I can land a lot softer now honest!!

Oh..and I now know to be careful with the rotor effect of baby highchairs Razz

Uhhohh:

Softer:

Softer 2:

Baby Chair (All was going well until....)

I hope this post helps some one and can create a chuckle from some of you more expert pilots out there Smile I've had and I am still having great fun with this, I don't crash too much now and my landings are getting softer thanks to another Earlgrey tip - slightly throttle up when landing to cushion the landing Smile

So, in summary, my flybar was all squiffy and this lend to playing with trims and other links, but eventually with the help of Earlgrey all was sorted out!

Right, now to try and sort out my walkera 52 Smile
