Well, the flying fleet is back together, (two thirds of it anyway) after being stuffed into the box for the return from vacation. Sorry, left the canopies off for this shot. This is the 450 and FIBER KING. King #1 is waiting for a crystal for the PCM receiver, a new ESC and gyro, so it may not be back in the air for a while. Robbed some bits to get FK ready to take up North.
Took the 450 for a short flight, (No vid...poop. The wife was sleeping ) to try a pair of the new blades that came today. Nice pieces so far, balanced perfectly for both CofG and weight right out of the box and only required 1/2 turn to get tracking in line. Going to check if they make some 288's for the Kings. Just a little nervous since this was the first flight of the 450 without the training gear. If this works out I'm going to have some nice C/F rods to use somewhere.
Anyone want some ping pong balls. Got a few holes in them, though!
Here's King #1 for anyone wanting to see a closeup of how the 450 head is fitted.
Here's the same type of rig on FIBER KING.

First flight of FIBER KING happened up North. Unfortunately, the wind died, making for a good flying environment, for me AND the mosquitos, so it was cut a bit short.
After the training gear came off it took a couple of sets of tail blades, (chewed against the small rocks mixed with the sand that makes up most of the ground there ) to finally settle on the board for a pad. Have to say it flies a bit different without that mounted.
Same thing here. While up a farging persistent bee seemed to find my right ear canal an inviting target! And no, the tail blades actually survived this unscathed. You'll see what I mean.
