Good grief ! I had a similar piece of kit when I was a lad. It wasn't the Bionic Gold, but the casing was the same along with the moving coil battery meter.
2 channel, 27MHZ AM and did a great job ...

How hard does it kick ? Are you spooling up smoothly or just shoving the stick hard forward ?
A smooth spool-up will put a lot less strain on the heli drive-train and will also give your gyro chance ...

Manually unfold the blades, yes, but they don't click in to place and don't tighten them up so they won't move. They're supposed to fold back in the event of an impact (crash)
