Talking of tiny helis, Walkera are going to be selling both an FP and CP heli that's about 2 inches longer than those little polystyrene ones. 2.4GHz, ready to fly. My local model shop has a factory p ...

It's none of these things, I'm afraid... your 4-in-1 is fried. Specifically the power MOSFETs for the main motor have died and failed closed circuit, meaning instead of switching current to the motor, ...

It was windier than I was hoping for, but I thought I'd fly anyway.

It's amazing how many crash stories start off with this sentence. In full scale too!

If the high head speed is the problem you could probably do it with a HDX-300 alloy head, although this may be defeating the "lightweight" part. (My CP2 with the HDX-300 head and brushless motor and a ...

They aren't *that* bad. I have a 300 size (HDX-300) - yes it's twitchy but I can fly it all day long without binning it, and I can fly it *much* more frequently than I could a 500, since I can fly it ...

I flew my Honey Bee CP2 in winds up to 15 mph! It was a handful, but with the extra headspeed from the brushless motor upgrade it was controllable.

I now have an HDX300 which is heavier than the CP ...

If you upgrade to a brushless motor, the CP2 flies quite happily when it gets to 400g (that's what mine weighed with the 3100kv motor and esky ESC, the HDX-300 alloy head and twin tail motors and extr ...

You might also want to look at using HDX-300 flat bottomed blades, they are pretty durable, and if you're not flying inverted, give really good performance by having a standard 'upright' airfoil shape ...

So, where's the worst possible place you can crash an electric heli (other than in a fire)?

In the pond of course.

Power glitch, power came back, lost control, and the heli went in the pond and ...

I have an HDX-300, which isn't much bigger than this - it's quite hard to get all the servo wiring tidy on such a small machine! However, some of that spiral cable wrap stuff really helps. (My HDX-300 ...

The heatsink helps. The brushed motors do get pretty hot anyway even when they are working well - but when the brushes are getting worn out, as soon as the motor starts to heat up, it loses a lot of p ...

Sounds almost certainly like the main motor is goosed. The brushed motors really don't like getting stalled (i.e. something stopping the rotor blades, such as in a crash) - it really kills the brushes ...

The TX switches on the front are Ail - down, Ele - up, Thr - down, Rud - Up.

Also check your servos are plugged into the right channels - otherwise some really unexpected things happen.

Ch.1 - S ...

After a fairly disasterous start - the build went OK, ...

The only way to test crystals is to put them in an oscillator and see if it oscillates at the right frequency. There's no simple test you can do with them.
