excuse my naivety, ive never had to replace a pinion gear on one of these things (i too am about a year into my punishment haha), but are you pressing it on with something mechanical? like a vice?

I can second that, my AR7000 has never lost signal. The extra receiver really helps.

how far away are they? could you not just drive over and grab it yourself? the UK aint that big is it?

ah yes. i found a very similar looking part on my old Twister 3D storm. fits perfectly, and first flight with it on today went swimmingly.
