0-60-60-60-60-60 is far too low. Apart from anything else there's no power to bail out if you get in trouble, it'll just bog down if you give it any collective.

To little gain will cause wag.
Too much will cause a violent quiver ( imagine an arrow striking a target Laughing ) and from what you say, this could be your prob.

Can anyone shed any light on why, overnight, the reverse settings on my Dx6i should change? And not even to the default settings?

The align screws are like cheese

The stainless ones on my V2 are really fine, but the new black ones on my Pro are nasty.

I find a bit of heat from the tip of a soldering iron helps the bad one ...

I'm not familiar with that gyro - but I see some guys on this forum using it, so maybe they could advise on correct set-up.

Also when the TX is in 3D mode the tail rotor twitches with rudder centralised

Sound like the tx is set up so the gyro is in HH in Idle/up (3D) and in Rate when its in Normal mode.

Maybe you were just very unlucky.
Align are good, but they are not perfect.

What's better?

Occasional greasing with a good PTFE grease or regular oiling with (triflow grade) oil?

Grease may last longer, but it doesn't get into a well-made bearing the same as fine oil do ...
