Problem with the hat switch(small thumb type joystick) on joysticks is just what it says, its a 4 way on/off switch with no anologue functions so not very useful for controlling anything on a heli.

God, i wish i could fly forward flight circuits and 8's even half as good as he can do it backwards or with the heli standing on its tail. His parents mustve been good to him.
