From PERSONAL experience I can say that ESky transmitters are junk, including their new 2.4GHz ones. (I class anything that doesn't work after two days as junk)

The Belt CP is miles better than it ...

The Honeybee FP is an excellent first step into single-rotor helicopters.
Another one worth looking at is the Walkera 4G1B 2.4 GHz. This is a second-generation Walkera #4, brought up to date with ev ...

As to what next, what are you considering?
Any of the coaxials are easy to fly and E-Flight, ESky and Twister are all pretty good.
Avoid dodgy three channel ones (t ...

I prefer my A. It handles beautifully and I got rid of the nodding by tightening the blades.
My B is horrible and handles like it's drunk. Also, the battery is stuffed and takes 45 minutes to charg ...

I find nose-in slightly easier than side on with any heli. I have gotten out of the habit of favouring one side over the other though.

Another quick flight to see if there was any improvement in the handling.
One minute it's fine, next it is sluggish and unresponsive with sudden random lurches.
It flies more like a badly set up FP ...

It is more likely to be radio failure than interference.
Make sure the aerial is screwed in tight on the transmitter. Check that the crystals are pushed in firmly on the transmitter and 4-in-1.

OK, I don't expect to get broadcast-quality in this price range but this looks to be a lot better than the FC1 for the same price.

I've ordered one so I ...

A decent charger (like a Cellpro 4s) or even a decent balancer might save it.
On the plus side, your charger detected the problem and didn't try charging the battery...

Cold can effect the gyro and the batteries won't like it either.
