A lot of the problems found with all helicopters can often be traced to to the obvious, that only become obvious once the problem has been found.
More often than not the problem is so simple that no one has thought of it!

To that end all of the most common problems that will cause your Lama not to work will be posted here shortly only moderators will be allowed to edit this Post so any tips and fixed that you have please post as a new topic with subject Lama fix or send your tip to me via pm, that way we'll have a clean clear list of all of the most common problem and links to the to the posts that will explain it better or simply for more information.

Your post will then be deleted and credit given to you here.
Thanks

Joe

Receiver will not calibrate

Make sure your throttle and throttle trim are both set to zero then disconnect the helicopter battery then reconnect it and try again.

Ensure that your crystal is in fact installed in the receiver and secured, this one is very common especially when a new receiver is bought!
Make sure that the crystals in both the transmitter and receiver are the same.
Batteries in the transmitter or helicopter too weak.

My Lama won't lift off!

Make sure your top rotor blades are correct and rotating anticlockwise as viewed from above, and the bottom rotors clockwise, if not Check all of your connections to your 4 in 1 (receiver)

You may think they are correctly wired but if you have bought a new one or disconnected any of the connectors it is very easy to connect to the wrong connector check HERE

My Lama wont lift off

Heli wont lift off, battery isn't fully charged/damaged, or battery and motor connectors have come loose/not properly attached
Rotor blades too badly chipped or damaged.
Not enough throttle

My Lama wont lift off
If the rotors dont seem to be spinning fast enough to lift off, and the heli wants to rotate out of control, can mean one of the motors is damaged and needs replacing - (happened to me once) for another multi rotor heli.

Tail/Gyro not responding during flight

it is important to let the 4 in 1 finish calibrating when the battery is connected, do not move the model whilst the calibration is in process as this can lead to calibration problems.

Make sure the tail trim on your transmitter is centered (located below the throttle stick).

Your transmitters antenna/ aerial is NOT fully extended.

My Lama spins wildly

Again check that all of your connections to the 4 in 1 are correct
Damaged to the 4 in 1 caused by the blades not being able to spin..
Bent inner or outer shaft, often caused as a result of a crash.
Make sure that your bottom blades are rotating clockwise and the top blades anticlockwise.

Your inner shaft may have worked loose, give the flybar a gentle pull if the inner shaft comes out or there is too much play, then take off your battery and tighten the collet while pressing downwards on the flybar.

One of your servo's is stuck fully down
Push it up and try again.( disconnect battery)

My Lama drifts to the left (or right)

Adjust all trim to the central position (except the throttle trim)
Not enough throttle - give a bit more!
Blades are not straight, give them a pull and a slight twist.
Check that the screws in the outer shaft has not worked loose.

My Lama is not stable at all

Make sure your flybar linkage is correctly fitted.
Again make sure that the outer or inner shaft is not bent.

My Lama wants to go backwards!

Make sure that both servo's actually responds to the transmitter as sometimes one of them can get stuck in the down position (Often after a crash)
Make sure that both Servo connectors are firmly in place, dont assume it check it!

My Lama wants to go backwards:-

Make sure your battery has not moved aft, this has happened to me a few times with the Lama V4 after a hardish landing.
The velcro faster is not the best. And you may not realise because the battery is enclosed in the lower body.

General:
I have also found that when the battery is getting low, still enough power to fly - it starts to rotate, yaw side ways, all without input.
I have ended up trimming all the way to the stops, and then have to apply correction to the control sticks.

I now take this as time to stop flying and get the battery connected to the charger.
Don't wait till it wont take off, you will have lost any sweet settings you may have had from previous flights.

My Lama vibrates before take off.

Check that your battery holder is correctly fitted
Check for damage to the landing skids or mainframe.
Check that your rotor blades are straight.

Other things to check for (courtesy of Skeeter
)

1. Check you transmitter antenna is screwed in firmly
2. Check you main rotor blades are fitted the correct way round with leading edges correct for the direction of rotation. They are handed so make sure they are fitted to the correct disc.
Plug in heli and do not move it until the 4 in 1 has initialized, the green light should be on continuously.
Hold heli from underneath buy gripping the battery carrier, keeping the rotating parts away from the plane of your eyes.
Move the throttle trim up until you hear the motor hum then move it back a click or two until it stops humming.
Now open the throttle slowly – what you are looking for is the motor to increase in speed proportionally to you throttle movement.
Disconnect heli battery.
Disconnect the motor you have just tried and connect the other motor and go through the test again.
You are looking for both motors to increase rpm smoothly as you increase the throttle input.

My Lama vibrates before take off:-

I find this when the blades has struck, and have not been put back in exact alignment.
Straighten them, run the motor to around half throttle and see if the tail vibrates, if it does, then check the blades again.
Also happens when blades are 'dinged', have small bits chewed out, or a crack that is not obvious without close inspection.
