Quite breezy today but not too gusty. I was suprised how stable the 450 was in 15mph+.. happily hovered the first pack ..
Second pack had a little power drop on first startup .. I think the issues with my one-way bearing may not be completely resolved.. perhaps another rinse and lube job..

However it then meshd in well and second flight started. Took more altitude and was doing Ok with higher hovers and piros and planning on some forward flight.. then during a recovery fom a series of 'piro-to-out-of-shape' I had the heli weathervane and slew about. Got control and it happened again .. regained control a second time.. everything settled.. but then on taking liberties and making a recovery a third time it vaned badly on me .. and that time I lost it.

Thinking about the incident afterwards I suspect much of the problem was higher altitude=faster wind and my set-up was on a lowish headspeed to conserve power for longer flight times.

I flew the 600 for 4 packs after that but adjustd the headspeed upwards and obviously dropped pitch so it still hovers just over midstick. Obviously more stable anyway in the breeze.. but bags more tail authority and I could pratt-about until the tail started with wag and power began to drop-off on the esc and still land.

..at least one that came home without a bag.

Damage to the 450 is the usual minor culprits - boom and flybar which i'll,swap out today. I'm still not confident enough for the idle-up switch but thinking of upping to the 13T pinion and using much higher headspeeds in these wintery conditions? Comments?
