I decided to get my HBK2 back in the air as I have three batteries wasting away if I don't fly the thing. Well, I installed the Xtreme 43T belt assembly because I am used to a responsive tail on my other helis. The gear wobbles on the shaft no matter how tight I fasten down the shaft, forcing the pin against the gear - but I figured I'd give it a go anyway.

I was flying around testing the tail response when, suddenly, the heli starts spinning like a top. I have a few flying hours under my belt so I didn't panic and I managed to gently land the spinning top a few feet from me (whew).

When I examined the heli I saw that the belt had slipped off the gear. It was still within the idlers, but had slipped off the gear. I had noticed as I spun-up the heli that the Xtreme gear wobbles, thus causing the belt to come off the gear. The belt was tightened sufficiently and the pin was pushed firmly against the gear (the main shaft collar had not shifted).

The hole diameter of the Xtreme gear is too large for the main shaft and the diameter of the pin is much less than the pin groove in the Xtreme gear, so it could not possibly provide a snug fit.

So, is my Xtreme gear a fluke or do others have comparable tales?
