I am new to the forum and about 6 months into my Heli addiction
The 52 was in a bit of a sorry state I had replaced the bottom plate of the frame which broke again and the tail boom which also broke again and I got through 3 main motors. I decide enough was enough and it was time for some improvements. So one MIA Phantom G10 frame later and canopy to go with it and the last bit of life from the last stock motor I had a very cool looking and very stable heli. Flight times and power were way down as the motor was on the way out but it was huge improvement on the old frame.
I have now fitted a Feigao 4100kv brushless motor and ESC from Hi Model also I have their 450 lipo which was recommended. After initial fitting and much playing with the TX setup I had it flying but the tail is very lacking in power it can’t cope with the extra power it seems of the brushless motor. That is my first problem my second is now my flight times are only a couple of minuets. I was getting about 5 or 6 mins to start with but that for some reason has reduced to about 2 mins. The motor is also running very hot is this normal for a brushless? I don’t as yet have a heat sink on it. The motor bogs down as well indicating that my pitch set up is wrong I guess but a friend has had a look at it and seems ok.
I have tried and tried to get it setup but nothing seems to work and it’s getting very frustrating. I am beginning to wonder if something has developed a fault. Any advice would be gratefully received.
I am a photographer and my ultimate aim is get a Digital SLR in the air so the 52 is very much part of my training plan. With winter on its way indoor practice is essential if I am going to hit my target of getting a camera in the air for next summer.
