walkera 4#1 thrust problems

greetings, i have a 4#1 and it will not climb above 1 or 2 feet with full throttle, it appears there is not enough thrust. I tried various different batteries and blades and there is no difference. The only thing that will get it to fly above 2 feet for a couple of seconds is if i disconnect the tail motor wire and reconnect it, then i get about 30 seconds of strong motor power. Is this a problem with the reciever?? The motor seems to work fine? thanks for any suggestions
