I then removed the oval links from the washout arms to the flybar control arms. Makes a big difference to the stability of the heli and its way more responsive. It does not take long to do and is a great mod with some noticeable benefits:-
It gets rid of the binding between the main blade holder and plastic link and also if you get the plastic link between you thumb and finger and squeeze you will notice it squashes easly too, the metal link does not and improves control some.
You will need a link set to get the extra links from and a couple of longer screws than the ones securing the stock link to the washout arm. Also a 1.5mm drill and a way of trimming the flybar control arm.
Washout to Flybar control arm link removal mod
As you can see this mod gets rid of the plastic ring linkage which goes from the washout arms around the main blade grips to the flybar control arms.
The hole in the washout is drilled right through with a 1.5mm drill to enable the link to be attached from the outside, The linkage cannot be attached on the inside as the blade holder is in the way . Slightly longer screws are needed to re-connect the link.
The flybar control arm needs to be trimmed off to get the best alignment between the link, washout arm and flybar control arm, I cut it of just after the threaded part about 2mm into the webbed part, if you attach the link to the washout arm and hold the link up in a straight line you will see where you need to cut.
You then need to carefully drill a 1.5mm hole in the end of the flybar control arm. If your not dead central you may not leave enough plastic around the hole and your screw threads will show. I did this so had to weld extra plastic from the bits I had cut of to reinforce a couple of places. I have new control arms on the way but the ones on work great.
End of mod, dead easy !!
A few pics of my DTS mod.
