I have a new problem, and I'm not really sure how to describe this one, so if anyone needs clarification please ask!
I think the best way to illustrate what is going on is this... Picture yourself walking along, kicking a ball, or can, or whatever on ahead on you; you take a few steps, then kick, take a few steps, kick, and repeat...
Now, to translate that to heli's... At startup, the motor engages the rotors, and as throttle is added, the main rotors are "kicked" ahead of the motor's push, and when the motor catches up, it gives the rotors another "kick", making a loud bang/whack noise as the slack is taken up. The problem presents itself only when there is a load on the motor, i.e. when the rotors and/or paddles are attached, *not* when the rotor head is removed.
This problem started after a crash, so...
What I've checked...
Motor: brand new JGF400DH (9T gear, super-soft startup) with Sonic 35A esc - added *after* the problem started.
Main rotor shaft: straight - I spun it up without the rotor head assy, and it doesn't wobble at all.
Main rotor driven gear (the big one): missing bits of three or four teeth - I have a new one to be installed later today.
Main rotor blades: brand new - HB Cool 290mm wooden.
Paddles & flybar: straight & level.
Swashplate & rotor head linkages: level and properly adjusted/tightened.
General gear mesh: tight, no visible slop.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Mike
