So, for lack of spares and other issues, I only flew my CP2 very briefly (with the new brushless motor) before going away for a week, and then only test flights to get it all set up. So all in all, hardly any flying over the last 3 weeks or so.

So I get back from my trip to Scotland (soaring, by the way - full scale - did my silver duration, a 5 hour soaring flight!) I decide to take the CP2 for a spin.

You'll never guess what happened... After only half a battery, CRASH! In idle up of course...Straight into the shed, another set of woodies broken, another ball link on the head broken, flybar bent (easily straightened), main axis pin sheared.

So I thought I ought to try again with the HDX-300 alloy head since the esky one is unservicable, now I have the more powerful brushless motor. It's better, but I still have to set it up with some positive pitch. I think the servos really ought to move a little more, since the way the head is built seems to result in far less pitch change than the standard head. I will have to see if I can get longer servo arms (that would certainly be less expensive than a fancier Tx!)

But at least it's flying again, and with the higher headspeed and the HDX-300 head it's really precise (it wasn't bad with the stock head to be honest, but the HDX makes it a little crisper).
