DJI have just announced the new DJI Phantom 4 Professional, featuring the most advanced camera ever fitted to a Phantom drone. This latest addition to the Phantom collection has the very best camera, new obstacle avoidance and the best battery life. The Phantom 4 Pro is a true all in one package for aerial photographers.
If you're wondering whether to buy the Phantom 4 Pro, the standard Phantom 4 or the Mavic Pro, Heliguy's vs blog post can help you decide!
The new camera on the Phantom 4 Pro features a 1” CMOS sensor, capable of capturing 20MP stills, aperture control and a mechanical shutter. H264 and H265 are both supported, with a maximum bitrate of 100mbps. Also, there are an amazing 11.6 stops of dynamic range and support for 60fps 4K footage. All of these new features take your aerial photography and cinematography to the next level.
The Phantom 4 Professional is powered by a 15.2V 5870 mAh Intelligent Flight Battery which enables the aircraft to fly for approximately 30 minutes, giving you plenty of time to capture a range of spectacular stills and footage.
The DJI Phantom 4 Pro features a brand new obstacle avoidance system. 2 extra sensors on the back of the quadcopter and 2 infrared sensors on the side of the aircraft body provide even greater obstacle avoidance when compared to the Phantom 4. Even while travelling at 31mph, the Phantom 4 Pro can avoid obstacles in it’s path to help protect the quadcopter itself and the pilot.
The P4 Pro features dual compass modules and dual IMUs, ensuring a huge increase in reliability. These sensors ensure flight stability and the Phantom 4 Professional constantly compares the data it collates through both. This data is passed through advanced algorithms to check the accuracy of received data and anything inaccurate is discarded with no adverse effects on the aircraft's flight.
A brand new remote from DJI introduces a built-in screen! No need to add a tablet or mobile device now. The Phantom 4 Pro remote includes a 1,000nit display. The bright screen will help you operate your quadcopter in any conditions. Please note - the built in screen is only included with the Phantom 4 Pro+ package - not this slightly cheaper package.
The standard Phantom 4 Pro Quadcopter package is £1,589.00 at launch.
DJI have announced the official release date as "Mid December"

Are there any Phantom 4 Pro Bundle or Combo deals available?
Yes. There's the Phantom 4 Pro+ which offers a remote controller complete with an integrated tablet.
What are the main differences between the Phantom 4 and Phantom 4 Pro?
An upgraded camera captures 4K/60fps at 100Mbps and stills up to 20MP. DJI’s FlightAutonomy system allows five directions of obstacle avoidance up to 30m. The upgraded Lightbridge offers an extended transmission range of 7km and enables you to switch between 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz. The aircraft’s Intelligent Flight Batteries have had their capacity increased by 520mAh allowing for flights of up to 30 minutes.
What are the key features of the Phantom 4 Pro’s camera?
The Phantom 4 Pro camera has a 1” 20MP sensor and has a manually adjustable aperture from F2.8 to F11. It also supports autofocus and has a focus range from 1m to ∞. -
What is the resolution / format of photos captured while recording footage?
Images are captured as JPEG in the same resolution as the recording.
Why does the Phantom 4 Pro have a mechanical shutter?
An electronic shutter may cause distortion, such as the often-cited jello effect when filming fast moving objects. The Phantom 4 Pro’s mechanical shutter prevents this and ensures a high-quality image.
When does the Pro’s infrared sensing system work during flight?
It’s available in both the Beginner and Tripod modes.
How does the infrared system work?
With a sensing field with a 70° angle horizontally and 20° angle vertically, radiated infrared light is reflected by obstacles, allowing the sensors to identify them at distances of up to 23ft by calculating the difference in projection and reflection times and using this information to create a 3D model of the environment and any obstacles within it.
What changes have been made to the obstacle sensing system?
The P4 Pro’s front obstacle sensing range has been extended to 98ft, with the rear sensing system sharing the same capability. On top of this, the Pro is also equipped with infrared sensors on both sides, allowing it to precisely detect the distance between its position and any obstacles within a range of up to 23ft.
Are the Phantom 4 and Phantom 4 Pro remote controllers compatible?
No. As of launch, they aren’t compatible.
What new Intelligent Flight Modes are on the Phantom 4 Pro?
AR Route, TapFly Backward, TapFly Free in Tap Fly mode, Circle, Profile, and Spotlight in ActiveTrack, as well as Draw and Gesture Mode. It also supports Narrow Sensing and uses new RTH algorithms.
How do I use the newly added Narrow Sensing feature?
You can set ‘C1’ or ‘C2’ as the activation switch for Narrow Sensing. When flying in a complex environment, the aircraft will adjust its sensing range and flying speed to safely navigate narrow gaps.
Can Phantom 4 propellers be used on the Phantom 4 Pro?
Yes, they are compatible.
Are the Phantom 4 Pro batteries and battery charger compatible with the Phantom 4?
Yes, you’re able to use them.
What should I know about the Phantom 4 Pro’s battery?
With a capacity of 5870mAh, the Phantom 4 Pro’s batteries allow for two additional minutes when compared to the original P4 batteries.

I just bought a DJI Mavic Air Heliguy - I had looked at getting it from a number of different online stores, but Paddy answered a few questions I had really quickly, was able to make sure that I received my order the next day, and made the buying experience really personal, which is often hard when buying online. I would thoroughly recommend purchasing from Heliguy based on this high level of service.
