DJI has issued firmware updates for users of TB50 and TB55 batteries, after a small number had reported incorrect power levels. The updates will enhance the battery-management system and optimize power supply during flight. Pilots are encouraged to check their DJI Pilot app or DJI GO 4 app and update the firmware on their batteries as soon as possible. Last month, there were reports that a small number of these batteries had shown incorrect power levels, leading to loss of power mid-flight. Customers were urged to fly with caution when using... Firefly versus Honeybee V2

The Honeybee V2 has been put back into production in Dec 2012 and we will continue to supply both models going forward. *This was edited on 23-01-13 to update as to the fact of the discontinued Honeybee V2 being put back into production by the factory after originally being announced that the model had been discontinued – the comparison article is still relevant. The Honeybee was the 4 channel fixed pitch helicopter popular with first time buyers and its demise is not necessarily a bad thing as we think we... Read More

Titan (LARGE) RC Helicopter with Camera

The TITAN is… 2 and ½ times bigger than the ESKY Big Lama and we are pretty sure there is no bigger 4 channel helicopter. (We’ll get some pics beside the Big Lama when it arrives in) It is a tank (but it doesn’t fly like one), the most robust helicopter I have flown, if they made helicopters to go into battle this would be it. It has digital servos and 2 huge carbon brush motors that give it a punchy power control (this can even be increased and decreased... Read More

FMS Flying Model Simulator

A little bit about FREE FMS: FMS is a freeware RC simulator for anyone to use. It’s not quite as user friendly as or has as many features as the commercial ones available right now. The flight characteristics with the transmitter interface are quite good including hovering, forward flight and aerobatics.  Flight simulator physics has progressed since the days of the FMS but if you want to get a good understanding as to how a helicopter feels to fly before trying it for real then this still continues to be... So how can you go about getting your own aerial photography rig in the air? There are three main elements to consider:... Read More

REVIEW: Should we be Worried About SYMA RC Toy Helicopters

Something has happened this year – I am seeing Syma RC Helicopters everywhere – I checked it out when the freight forwarder who we use – mentioned he had imported lots of toy helicopters. I then checked the trending and yes a spike had grown… . I have seen them everywhere online too: Here are the spares for the same shop shown above. You’ll notice that the only spares provided involve blades, flybar and linkages – so if you break something else you may have trouble sourcing, we usually direct... Read More
