Osmo+Announcement   Following closely after their announcement of the Zenmuse Z3 'Zoom' camera, DJI has today unveiled the Osmo+. Hailing it as their "first handheld gimbal with an integrated zoom camera", adding this functionality to the highly popular Osmo was a no-brainer. Featuring a 7× zoom which is made up of 3.5× optical and 2× digital lossless zoom, the Omso+ has a focal length ranging from 22mm to 77mm which doesn't sacrifice HD quality when fully zoomed in. It's worth noting, however, that the digital lossless zoom will only be available when you're shooting at 1080p.

Upgraded Features

Fans of time-lapses are in for a treat as the Osmo+ lets you capture the passage of time with ease. According to DJI, it's a simple case of marking where you want the Osmo's movement to begin and end, then tapping ‘Start’ to create professional quality footage without the need for any specialist equipment. OSMO+-ARTICLE-IMG DJI hasn't forgotten why the Osmo gained such a following and has stated that the new model builds on the advanced stabilisation technology of its first iteration which keeps the camera level and your footage smooth however you choose to film. It's not all about video either, as the Osmo+ has reportedly been optimised for greater quality and stability during stills capture.

Quality & Coverage

According to the official specs from DJI's site, the Osmo+ states it is capable of recording up to 100fps in HD (however, bear in mind that the Osmo can manage up to 120fps). The other noticeable change is that the Osmo+ can now record in 2.7K  at 24/25/30p as well as the familiar 4K, UHD and HD quality standards. To tempt new Osmo customers in the US and China, DJI has also announced that they will be offering an extra year of warranty called 'OSMO Shield'. This scheme doubles DJI's warranty period to two years if a customer the purchase of an Osmo or Osmo+.
