XTInActionBanner heliguy™ have been out and about testing the DJI Zenmuse XT to see what it's capable of. Performing motion tracking over our test field and capturing some impressive crane footage close to our HQ in the Orion Business Park, our tech team were in their element. It’s not all fun and games though as the images we've accrued for this entry ably demonstrate the quality of footage you can expect from the Zenmuse XT. Please note that the stills featured in this post have been taken with the basic model, tests of the XT Advanced Radiometry Version will commence as soon as we receive a delivery.

Trying Out the DJI Zenmuse XT

You can see the results of our tests in the images below: There's a lot of functionality at play, you can see the camera’s ability to pick out subjects clearly even when they are obscured by foliage and other obstacles. The range of visual modes give you plenty of choices in how to view the target location depending on the desired application of the technology. Whether it's attached to an Inspire 1, M100, M600 or used independently of a drone (although, where's the fun in that), the DJI Zenmuse XT is undoubtedly a solid bit of kit. It’s also worth pointing out that while capturing the footage, our subject was able to make himself invisible to the camera by simply using a group shelter. This could prove to be a serious drawback in using the basic XT model as a standalone surveillance solution.

Great at a Distance

We’re not the only ones getting involved with the XT, South African RC and UAV supplier OdieArt sent us the following shots that they were able to capture, showing the quality of the camera at gradually increasing distances

Stay Tuned

Over the coming weeks we’ll be performing more tests with the DJI Zenmuse XT in various locations and scenarios. We're currently putting together a video showcasing the camera in action, so stay tuned to the blog and our YouTube channel.
