The hotly anticipated professional hexacopter, the Freefly ALTA
, is due to be released in August.
The aircraft, with a price of £6,964, is designed to carry Freefly's handheld camera stabilisers, the Movi 5, 10 and 15
, but its party trick is that the gimbal can be mounted on top of the rig as well as underneath. This opens up an amazing new set of filming possibilities for the creative professional.
Aerial movie makers will be able to fly professional cameras including RED Dragon, Sony F55, and ALEXA Mini. Its maximum payload is 6.8 kg (15 lbs) with a maximum gross take-off weight of 13.6 kg (30.0 lbs). The Movis can be attached and detached quickly and easily thanks to the Toad In The Hole quick release system.
Folding carbon fibre propellers and folding booms allow the ALTA to go from the case to the air in around five minutes. In its folded state it measures just 532 mm X 515 mm X 220 mm. Freefly say it's easy to fly, powerful, rigid, adaptable, reliable, and optimized for professional set-ups.

They claim the Freefly Synapse flight control system represents a new level of control, precision and reliability for unmanned aerial systems.
