DJI Modify firmware update: V1.3.0

Firmware update for DJI Modify brings enhanced support for point clouds, including automatic smoothing and classification, and upgraded 3D display functions.

A new firmware update for DJI Modify brings a suite of automation features, smarter selection tools, and better visualisation options - designed to enhance point cloud processing.

DJI Modify is DJI's AI-powered 3D modelling and point cloud editing software. It can be used in conjunction with DJI Terra.

The 1.3.0 update makes it easier to produce cleaner and more accurate 3D models. These enhancements not only streamline workflows but also reduce the need for extensive manual post-processing.

DJI Modify V1.3.0: Advancements in point cloud processing

Expanding on its automation toolkit, DJI Modify now features intelligent point cloud classification.

A video showcasing these benefits can be seen, here.

The system can automatically detect and categorise elements like terrain, vegetation, structures, power infrastructure, moving objects, and vehicles.

This level of detailed classification enables users to isolate and work on specific components of their models with exceptional accuracy.

Precision editing with smarter selection tools

Version 1.3.0 adds support for detecting vertical structures, rooftops, utility lines, and poles during smart selection.

Users can fine-tune these selections by adjusting tolerance levels, ensuring more controlled and precise edits.

Additional tools - including point cloud colour-based selection, brush tools, and single-point selection - expand the user's ability to make detailed adjustments effortlessly.

Upgraded 3D visualisation and custom features

The new update also enhances model visualisation with support for displaying TIN meshes...

...contour lines and elevation points.

These visualisation options give users deeper insights into their 3D models, improving both analysis and editing decisions.

DJI Modify now lets users adjust the colour coding for different point cloud classifications. This personalisation makes it easier to align visual elements with project standards or preferences. Additionally, hovering over a point now reveals its coordinates, giving users instant access to spatial data for more informed editing.

Also, the undo limit for point cloud model editing has been increased to 50 actions.

DJI Modify is currently available as part of a free public beta. See release notes, here.
