Heliguy is now offering a specialist, one-day training course on DJI’s Inspire & Phantom models. We have years of experience in selling both consumer and professional drones, building specialist aircraft to order, providing technical support and also offering a dedicated repair service. In short, our expert staff know their way around a UAV.
What to Expect
The course efficiently and engagingly covers a huge amount of ground in a single day, allowing prospective drone pilots the chance to get hands-on with the DJI Inspire & Phantom models whilst also learning about safety procedures, maintenance and current regulations.
Our Inspire & Phantom training day covers the following criteria:
UK Air Law
You will be walked through the current legislation governing the use of drones as laid out by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). We will explain the steps that need to be taken to achieve your Permission for Aerial Work (PfCO), what rules and regulations are involved in becoming a commercial drone pilot and of course, how to fly legally and responsibly.
This section also includes access to resources which can be used to plan flight paths outside of no-go areas such as controlled airspace and densely populated locations.
Time and again, DJI's Phantom range has proven to be the most popular quadcopter series available. The Phantom 3 Professional and Advanced are still going strong and their newest model, the Phantom 4, incorporates all of their UAV and sensory development work into an intuitive easy-to-fly aircraft.
The DJI Inspire 1 is a high-performance quadcopter designed for use by professional operators. Bridging the gap between the Phantom range and DJI’s larger heavy lift rigs, it’s perfect for capturing stunning shots for aerial filmmakers and photographers.
Heliguy’s training day lets you get up close and personal with these popular models, giving you the full rundown on their various uses and core functionality. Our team will run through high-level information such as the key features of the craft and a list of its components as well as more practical aspects such as how to accurately read crucial flight data.
You will also receive an in-depth look at the various payload options, how to choose which is the best for you and how to get the most out of the compatible cameras.
At Heliguy, we have unparalleled knowledge when it comes to the DJI range. We were their first supplier in the UK and currently operate a DJI repair centre able to handle warranty work. This places us in a unique position to pass on our standard of in-depth knowledge to our trainees.
You’re in safe hands with our team of experts who will guide you, step by step, through all you need to know about keeping your DJI quadcopter in working order. By the end of the day, you’ll be familiar with everything from maintaining hardware and software, to responsible monitoring and storage of DJI's smart batteries.
Recognised as a National Qualified Entity (NQE) by the CAA, Heliguy takes the safe and responsible usage of UAVs very seriously. This section of the course explains how to ensure you remain in complete control of your drone from take-off to landing.
To achieve this, you will be taught how to perform the required flight checks, establish airworthiness and also when to follow emergency procedures. As with any machinery (aerial or otherwise) accidents are inevitable, we’re here to teach you how to react quickly and effectively when they occur. At the end of the day, you’ll be taught to identify issues as they arise, confidently remaining in control of your craft even in challenging situations.
Weather permitting, the afternoon will involve practical flight experience outdoors which will vary with the size and experience of the group.
The Practical element of the course builds on the theory you have undertaken throughout the day. It begins with choosing a flight location, displaying the difference between what's visible on maps and charts compared to what you see on-site. This also includes identifying any issues, using the skills you've been taught in the morning and putting them into practice in the form of assessing and mitigating risk.
Once you're confident that the area is secure and safe for operation, it's time to set up the aircraft for flight. These skills will have already been covered in the form of a simulated drone flight experience to ensure that your hands-on flight is enjoyable and successful. This is followed by a run through of the basic controls and features of the Inspire & Phantom models, how to customise them and also how to initiate them when required.
Finally, you will be given the opportunity to speak to our training staff about their skills and background in the UAV industry. This is also a great chance to find out what areas need to be improved upon and to outline an action plan if you're interested in pursuing a commercial drone venture.
On completion of this course, you are able to credit it against Heliguy’s CAA PfCO training with the DJI Inspire & Phantom training counting as Day 1 of our CAA approved training. Should you choose to continue on to the full CAA PfCO course, you'll save 10% on the total cost.
Whether you’re new to the world of UAVs or are simply looking for a refresher, Heliguy’s Inspire & Phantom training day has all the information you need.
