The DJI Agras MG-1 is an octocopter which has been designed to carry out the precision variable rate application of liquid pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides, bringing a new level of efficiency and manageability to the agricultural industry.
The powerful propulsion system enables the Agras to carry up to 10kg payloads, including pesticide and fertilizer (in liquid form). The combination of speed and power means that an area of 4,000-6,000m² can be covered in as little as 10 minutes, or 40 - 60x faster than manual spraying. The intelligent spraying system automatically adjusts according to the flight speed ensuring that an even spray is always applied. This way, the amount of pesticide or fertilizer is precisely regulated to avoid pollution and economize operations.
Equipment used in plant protection operations can be susceptible to dust and corrosion, leading to unnecessary maintenance and shortened lifespans. To counteract degradation, the Agras is designed with a sealed body and an in-built centrifugal cooling system. As it flies, the surrounding air enters the aircraft body via the front inlet, which is equipped with a triple filter system that keeps dust and particulate matter from entering.
The air then passes through each of the arms and motors, capturing heat from the entire structure before exiting and dissipating it into the surrounding air. This combo of cooling and filtering increases the lifespan of each motor by up to 3x.
Spray nozzles can be chosen according to the properties of each liquid to optimize atomization, energy efficiency and the amount of liquid sprayed. The interchangeable nozzle is resistant to wear and can be used for thousands of hours of effective spraying without degradation. In total, the Agras has four nozzles, each placed directly below a motor. The downward airflow generated by the propellers accelerates the spray, increasing its reach.
The advanced flight controller integrated with the aircraft instantly and precisely responds to your input. Choose between three flight modes: Smart, Manual and Manual Plus, according to terrain and the specific needs of each task.
Under Smart mode, the whole flight can be planned with the press of a few buttons, without the need for mapping knowledge or additional software, making the Agras not only the most efficient but also the most user friendly spraying solution. In Manual Plus mode, the aircraft performs the same turns at the press of a button as it does automatically under the Smart mode, allowing for planning to be done on the fly for irregularly shaped field. Under Manual mode, the pilot freely navigates the aircraft.
The Agras automatically records its current location and remembers past coordinates as it carries out its work. If the operation is interrupted, for example due to depleted battery or a shortage of spraying liquid, your flight easily be resumed from the last point in its memory after changing the battery or refilling its tank.
The design is based on a Y-type folding structure and can be installed without the use of any additional tools. Its motor arms fold inwards, making the aircraft compact and easy to transport. The Agras is made from high-strength carbon fibre materials so while the body frame is light, it’s also durable and able to withstand the harshest conditions.
By integrating a microwave radar together with the intelligent flight control system in the Agras, you’re able to scan terrain in real-time, and make adjustments to keep a constant, centimetre accurate, height above crops. Spray density is maintained even as the terrain rises and falls, so that the optimum amount of liquid is applied at all times.
The dedicated remote controller is equipped with the Lightbridge 2 transmission system, enabling ultra-low-latency controls. Like the aircraft body, the remote is designed with water and dust protection. A special low-energy display panel gives real-time flight information and is able to last over extended periods of time on a single charge. Together with the highly responsive joysticks and convenient function keys, mastering the art of agricultural spraying is made easier than ever before.

Thanks for your help. I think I will design one. I did see one that wraps around the base of the handle and has the tripod screw thread offset to the side. I think I can do better, a hinged bottom plate, with a tripod screw hole in the center and a clasp that inserts into the handle release slot.

Both my emails where answered to help try and fault find my problem, so I can see if it would be cost affective to repair myself. Before deciding weather it's worth spending too much to have the drone sent in for repair.
