Matrice 200 Weatherproofing

The Matrice 200 is the first DJI platform to feature IP43 Ingress protection.

According to the official specification, this means the M200 will be protected against:

Object size protected againstEffective against
>1mmMost wires, screws, etc.
Dripping waterDripping water (vertically falling drops) shall have no harmful effect.
Dripping water when tilted up to 15°Vertically dripping water shall have no harmful effect when the enclosure is tilted at an angle up to 15° from its normal position.
Spraying waterWater falling as a spray at any angle up to 60° from the vertical shall have no harmful effect.

In practice - this means the Matrice 200 will be fully protected when flying in wet conditions, either through precipitation or moisture in the atmosphere.

This solves one of the major issues that enterprise operators have had for some time now.

Matrice 200 Camera Support

At launch, the Matrice 200 will support these four industry-leading DJI cameras:

There are also four different payload options available:

    • Single Downward Gimbal
    • Dual Downward Gimbals (M210 Only)
    • Single Upward Gimbal (M210 Only)
    • Third Party Sensors

Portable Design

Another feature of the Matrice 200 is the foldable design the drone uses.

This ensures that their commercial operators can move quickly between sites.

The included case stores the drone and the accessories which are easily unfolded and assembled.

Gimbal mounting plates and the arms of the M200 stay mounted during transportation so that you’re ready to fly straight away.

Unfolding DJI Matrice 200

Matrice 200, 210 and 210-RTK Series FAQ

  • Do the DJI Matrice 200 series have obstacle avoidance?

Yes of course - the M200, M210 and M210 RTK all have DJI's 'FlightAutonomy' system. This includes 7 sensors for detecting obstacles up to 30m ahead and 5m above the aircraft.
There is also a downward facing vision positioning system which assists in precision landing and hovering functions.

  • Why is the Matrice 200 series better than the M600 or M100 aircraft?

The Matrice 200, 210 and 210 RTK all have features that neither the M600 or M100 can offer. The IP43 protection, foldable design and portability of the M200 series make them more appealing when you're travelling from site to site.

Plus, the Matrice 210 aircraft can accommodate multiple payload configurations, which will allow you to capture multiple data types in a single flight.

  • Does the quadcopter come with a case?

Yes, all the DJI Matrice 200 series quadcopters come with a case that has the capacity to carry everything you need for commercial operations, including 2 gimbals, 2 sets of propellers, a charger, charging hub and 6 batteries.

  • Does the DJI Matrice 210 RTK require any extra setup?

None at all - the RTK system is built into the quadcopter itself.

  • Which of DJI's apps are compatible with the Matrice 200 series?

    DJI Ground Station Pro
    DJI GO 4
    New DJI Pilot Android App
  • What are the benefits of the RTK system available for the M200 series?

DRTK GPS position will record a JPG file's EXIF and embed the technical metadata automatically when capturing images. Currently, this information is processed via the flight controller. DJI plan to have the data from the DRTK connected to this for more accurate information when flying.

DJI M200 Use Cases

  • On receiving a distress call, deploy search teams to assist. Emergency vehicles already contain M210 with multiple payloads for ease of deployment

  • Unfold M200/M210, attach relevant cameras and start surveying the area for the missing person
  • Flight can be done manually or pilots can use the DJI GS Pro or DJI Pilot apps to automate the flight for an optimised search pattern
  • Live stream can be transmitted to a remote command centre using DJI FlightHub

Problem Solving

  • Pilot or remote team direct the rescue efforts using information gained from their M200 Series drone

Firefighting Operations

  • On receiving a distress signal, rapidly deploy firefighting teams to the target area. Firetrucks are already prepared with M210 models and thermal cameras (Zenmuse XT)

  • Deploy M210 drone and fly above the site with a good view of the operation and site status
  • Live stream can be transmitted to a remote command centre using DJI FlightHub

Problem Solving

  • With information from the sky, the commander informs the team to address the key problem areas and is aware of key structural weaknesses that can harm the team

Equipment Used

Z30 and XT

DJI Pilot / GS Pro

Why use the M200 in Firefighting or Crisis Management?

1. Find missing persons and plan approach paths with an aerial perspective, regardless of terrain

2. Mount two cameras at once with the M210 model so you're equipped for any task

3. Thermal (Zenmuse XT) and zoom (Zenmuse Z30) to easily spot missing persons in difficult environments

4. Weather resistance so you can operate regardless of weather conditions

5. Plan optimal paths using flight planning features enabled through DJI software offerings

DJI M200 for Drone Inspection

Line/Pylon Inspection

  • Decide assets to be inspected
  • Find an open area with a clear view of the inspected target
  • Plan flight beforehand using DJI Pilot or GS Pro (optional)

  • Mount the payload that best suits the data requested
  • If using RTK, test connection

Problem Solving

  • Capture data of the site, plug the SD card from the drone into your computer and send photos detailing problematic areas to the teams responsible

Substation Inspection

  • Plan flight using DJI Pilot or GS Pro. Note that with substations you can only fly above the site

  • Start mission automatically and collect image or video data

Problem Solving

  • Verify problematic areas manually or use third-party software to assist in identifying areas of concern

Equipment Used

M210 RTK

Z30 and XT

DJI Pilot / GS Pro

Why use the Matrice 200 for Drone Inspections?

1. Much faster and safer than manual inspections
2. Versatility:
- M210 models with visual and thermal cameras let you identify internal and external issues with one flight
- M210 RTK model allows stable flights despite strong electromagnetic interference
3. With weather resistance, there are fewer delays due to weather conditions
