If you need a basic drone with a camera and are not too concerned about having all the latest features, or using your drone commercially, the Phantom 2 could be a good choice. A lower price than the newer DJI drones means that more people can become drone pilots at a lower price point. The Phantom 2 supports a range of gimbals and cameras, allowing you to create a tailored setup for your circumstances. The Phantom 2 is most popular with new drone pilots hoping to use their GoPro camera with a drone.
The Phantom 2 is a great choice of quadcopter for people who like to use GoPro cameras.
The basic drone doesn’t come with a gimbal or camera fitted but we can add both or just the gimbal, if you already have a GoPro. DJI make 3 axis gimbals for the GoPro Hero 4 (H4-3D) camera so you can get ultra steady video and sharp stills. For even better useability we would recommend adding first person view (FPV) to your drone so that you can see what your camera sees and, more importantly, see where your Phantom is going. There’s also an FPV Pro option which adds an iOSD II – providing not just an on-screen display of aircraft data but also a flight log capability.
The Phantom 2 Vision Plus has a built in gimbal and camera but, while it’s a complete package, you would be advised to compare it with the Phantom 3 range before making your final choice.
