RS 2 DJI Gimbal with Focus Wheel

Lightweight Gimbal Supports Heavier Cameras

The DJI RS 2 has carbon fibre in vital structural components, reducing the weight down to 1.3 kg (2.86 lbs), while remaining durable.

The DJI RS 2 now supports a tested dynamic payload of 4.5 kg (10 lbs), allowing creatives to use heavier camera and lens combinations - while still achieving 12 hours of battery life.

A new quick-charge function directly to the battery handle is great for urgent situations, providing an extra two hours of battery life with just 15 minutes of charge.

DJI has introduced a newly-optimised Titan Stabilisation Algorithm, which reduces manual user input while compensating for user movement and optimising the gimbal tilt and angle.

The new SuperSmooth mode adds another level of camera stability, especially for compensating longer focal length lenses of up to 100mm.

Axis locks enable easier transportation and balancing, while a dual-layer camera mounting plate is compatible with the Arca-Swiss and Manfrotto standard.

A fine-tune balancing knob allows for greater precision balancing of the camera payload.

The built-in front dial above the trigger enables precise control and complements a DJI Focus Wheel mounted on the RSA port to create two-channel focus and zoom (compatibility varies by camera model).

Bright Touchscreen And Added Versatility

The RS 2 features a built-in 1.4" colour touchscreen, supporting 11 different languages.

This can display the camera data, gimbal settings, or a live feed from the camera.

The ultra-bright screen can also initiate key functions such as ActiveTrack and a suite of intelligent shooting modes.

The RS 2 is also a versatile tool - allowing content creators to push their imagination to the limits.

The gimbal can be used with jibs, car attachments, and sliders.

The two RSA ports can be used as NATO ports, enabling the mounting of accessories and attachments, such as grips and a remote controller.

Make Stories Come To Life

The RS 2 expands on its predecessor's range of creative modes and features.

The highlights include:

  • New Time Tunnel: Perform a 360-degree roll while capturing hyperlapse. This adds a new dimension to your footage.
  • Flashlight: The camera can be tilted all the way forward so users can grip the base like a flashlight.
  • One-Tap Portrait Mode: Quickly orientate the gimbal into vertical shooting for professional-level social-media content.
  • Panorama: Configure sensor and focal length, and then select a start and stop point for panoramas up to a gigapixel size.
  • Roll 360: The gimbal adopts the Flashlight position and rolls the camera system 360 degrees.
  • Timelapse: Capture subtle changes over lengths of time of your choosing. Timelapse is a classic feature!

Accessories Expand Creative Capabilities

The RS 2 can be customised with a range of accessories to help capture the best shot possible.

These accessories include:

  • Cheese plate
  • Focus Wheel
  • 3D Focus System (coming at a later date after launch)
  • Twist Grip Dual Handle
  • RavenEye Image Transmission System
  • Tethered Control Handle

When the RavenEye Image Transmission System is connected, users can utilise ActiveTrack 3.0. This sends a 1080p/30fps low-latency feed to a mobile device using the Ronin app from up to 100 metres away.

The Ronin app also enables vital features and functions to be controlled over long distances. This includes gimbal movement, using the virtual joystick and Force Mobile, so gimbal mimics the mobile device's movement.

For solo operators using manual-focus lenses, the 3D Focus System uses state-of-the-art TOF sensors mounted above the camera to provide autofocus. This enables a single shooter to capture smooth and cinematic footage using a manual lens, without relying on a second camera operator or focus puller.
