Aerial Surveying Workflow Training

Drone Surveying Workflows And Sensor Specific Training

heliguy™ drone survey training helps you realise the potential of aerial mapping to maximise ROI and increase safety on your job site.

Our series of courses, prepared by our in-house GIS specialists and training team, will teach you best practises for enhanced data capture and post-processing.

Courses include:

  • Drone Surveying Training Course: In-depth, in-person training dedicated to drone mapping workflows with DJI surveying drones. Course covers photogrammetry and LiDAR applications and includes surveying fundamentals, mission planning, data capture, data processing and outputs.
  • L1 LiDAR Workflow Course: Free online course dedicated to collecting and post-processing data on the DJI Zenmuse L1 LiDAR and photogrammetry sensor.
  • M300 RTK Virtual Handover: This online handover of the M300 RTK (and H20T payload) provides set-up and operational best practices to deploy the drone confidently, safely and effectively, and to use the payload effectively.

Surveying Workflows And Training Courses

In-Depth Drone Survey Training Course

The heliguy™ drone surveying training course provides a comprehensive understanding of using a drone for surveying.

The course covers:

  • Mission planning;
  • Data capture best practises and workflows, including oblique, topographic, and manual drone flights;
  • GNSS data collection: NTRIP, base stations, and rovers;
  • Ground control and check points;
  • Photogrammetry and LiDAR drone mapping;
  • Processing software, including DJI Terra and TerraSolid;
  • Data processing, cleaning, and analysis, including volume calculations;
  • Data outputs/deliverables, such as 2D orthomosaics and 3D modelling.

The course is aimed at enterprise programmes that have recently adopted surveying drones.

Matrice 300 RTK Virtual Handover

The heliguy™ M300 RTK Virtual Handover provides dedicated set up, workflow support and best practices for the drone and H20T payload.

The content includes:

  • Technical specifications;
  • Assembly;
  • Functional checks, calibration and updating the firmware;
  • Take-off procedure;
  • Understanding the DJI Pilot user interface;
  • Controller operating system;
  • Utilising Dual Operator mode;
  • Using the BS60 Charging Station
  • Introduction to H20T (with visual, zoom, thermal, and laser rangefinder).

This virtual handover is delivered via voice-over video, presented by the heliguy™ training team, which has vast experience in delivering face-to-face drone handovers. Moving this to a digital experience makes it more accessible and enables operators to rewatch the material.

L1 LiDAR Surveying Course

Free-to-watch online course for the L1 LiDAR and photogrammetry payload.

It features more than two hours of video content, including on-screen demonstrations. A course handbook is also available.

Content includes:

  • Workflows for obtaining positional corrections;
  • Assembly and connection to the DJI D-RTK 2 Base Station;
  • IMU calibration and best L1 parameters;
  • Mission Deployment: Topographical surveying, oblique scanning, corridor mapping and terrain follow;
  • Employing ground control for LiDAR data sets;
  • Post-processing in DJI Terra and TerraSolid, including classification.

This course was created by heliguy™ and was subsequently endorsed by DJI, who purchased the course licence to share to a global audience.

Drone Surveying & GIS

Drone surveys can be up to 5x faster than traditional methods.

Drone surveys can benefit many applications in different industries, such as construction, mining and aggregates, agriculture, urban planning and land management, public safety, and environmental research.

Capturing data with a drone is up to five times faster than with land-based methods and requires less manpower.

heliguy™ provides drone training, workflow support, drone sales and repair and software to the surveying and GIS industry.
