What are the benefits of having a drone label C0, C1, C2, C3 or C4?
From 1 January 2026, the CAA is introducing new drone class markings. Having a drone labelled C0, C1, C2, C3 or C4 will allow operators to fly under clearly defined conditions in the Open Category. The label your drone receives depends on its weight. For example, C0 applies to aircraft under 250g, while C4 covers aircraft over 4kg and under 25kg.
These class labels can help reduce restrictions, such as minimum distances from people, or simplify training requirements, depending on the drone and its classification.
