DJI Matrice 4TD Field Test: Automated Thermal Detection in Action

Today we put the DJI Matrice 4TD through its paces in the field, showcasing its powerful automated thermal detection system.

Our training instructor, Bradley, set the M4TD to flag any heat source above 35°C. During the test, the drone successfully identified multiple targets (hot water bottles), logging each detection with GPS coordinates and snapshots. The system also provided a 10-second window for manual takeover, allowing the pilot to quickly verify detections using the zoom camera before continuing the mission.

This workflow highlights how the M4TD removes the burden of constant monitoring, automatically scanning for anomalies and only prompting the operator when intervention is needed. By automating detection and recording, it makes thermal search operations faster, easier, and more reliable.
