The DJI Mini 2 drone is now compatible with the DJI Smart Controller, thanks to a firmware update.
This is a big step forward for fans of the sub 250g drone, as the Smart Controller has an ultra-bright display screen.
As well as being a cool drone for hobbyists, the Mini 2 has emerged as an important tool for certain commercial drone missions, thanks to its small frame, ability to capture 12MP images and shoot 4K 30fps @ 100Mbps video. Smart Controller compatibility is a boost for these types of missions.
With its 5.5-inch built-in screen displaying crystal-clear images, and benefiting from OcuSync 2.0 transmission, the DJI Smart Controller has become a popular device for drone pilots.
The Mini 2 is the latest drone to be given Smart Controller compatibility; The device can also be used with the DJI Air 2S, Mavic Air 2, Mavic 2 Zoom, Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic 2 Enterprise Series including the Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced, and the Phantom 4 Pro V2.0.
The new firmware update (v01.03.0000) brings other benefits, too, such as optimised gimbal FPV mode.
It is important to note that you will need to update the firmware with your stock Mini 2 controller before you can connect to the Smart Controller. Also, make sure that your Smart Controller is also using firmware v01.01.00.58 or later, and then connect the drone to it.
