Something has happened this year - I am seeing
Syma RC Helicopters everywhere - I checked it out when the freight forwarder who we use - mentioned he had imported lots of toy helicopters.
I then checked the trending and yes a spike had grown... .
I have seen them everywhere online too:
Here are the spares for the same shop shown above.
You'll notice that the only spares provided involve blades, flybar and linkages - so if you break something else you may have trouble sourcing, we usually direct to eBay and it's probably your best bet to find spares. So the most popular Syma helicopters seem to be the
Syma S107 and the
Syma S111G for their extremely low price tag of around £20. Just remember they are 3 channel, they are infa red control - which is really low range.
So lets get back too the original question should we be worried? I would say no, I think it's a good thing and the same thing happened in 2007/2008 with the Pico Z, people were ringing us saying that they had tried the Pico Z and were looking for more. Take a look Pico Z spike compared to the Syma one this year!
There is one added difference this time round in
heliguy™ 2012 - we have some much improved beginners options. Please click on some of the relevant links I have added at the bottom of the page if you would like some good
beginners rc helicopter options.
