The Soarability MetScan V1 is a drone-mounted methane 3D scanning system designed for efficient leak detection in the natural gas industry.
It is compatible with the DJI Matrice 400, as well as the DJI M350 RTK and DJI M300 RTK.
MetScan V1 uses open-path TDLAS technology to detect fugitive gas emissions from a safe distance, enabling fast inspections over large or hard-to-reach areas.
This IP54-rated payload is equipped with dual cameras and a laser rangefinder. Use with Soarability's complementary data analytical software for real-time insights and historical mission analysis.
MetScan V1 improves safety by detecting leaks remotely and helps reduce operational downtime. It is ideal for inspecting natural gas wells, gas pipelines, and leaks inside and outside of buildings.

MetScan V1 Drone Gas Detection
Dual camera and laser rangefinder
Remote sensing methane sensor: Benefit from a measurement range of 0-99,999 ppm·m; accuracy of 10% relative error (for 1,000-50,000 ppm·m); and 50Hz sampling rate. The remote sensing methane sensor has a detection distance of up to 400m (night) and up to 160m (noon).
Dual cameras: Integrated 35mm (equiv) wide-angle and 300mm (equiv) telephoto cameras enable real-time dual-view fusion, combining broad-area inspection with long-distance, HD imaging. Also support video recording.
Integrated laser rangefinder: Provides distance measurements to targets, with a ranging distance of up to 800m in low-light conditions and 500m in daytime. The laser rangefinder is used for accurately georeferencing the methane readings (latitude, longitude, and relative altitude).
3-axis stabilised gimbal: Ensures pinpoint laser measurements and clear imagery, even from a long distance.

Use Soarability MetScan V1 with Soarability Spatiotemporal Insights (SSI) - a browser-based data analysis and visualisation software for post-flight analysis and live monitoring. On-premises deployment options are available.
Advanced data visualisation: 2D and 3D visualisation of methane data. Understand the size, concentration, and dispersion of methane plumes by viewing methane concentration point clouds, grid heatmaps, ray (line) projection, and interpolated heatmaps.
Real-time data streaming (MQTT): Supports MQTT protocol for real-time data forwarding. Stream live mission data to a command centre or cloud service, and integrate with SCADA systems or real-time dashboard.
Web Embedding: Embed the SSI web interface into your existing operational software or website. Combine MetScan V1's data with other operational data.
Closed-loop Analysis: One-click positioning and navigation to leak points, enabling an efficient workflow from data insight to on-site inspection.
Multi-data synchronisation: Synchronise concentration values, spatial locations, and imagery. Instantly mark leakage points with environmental context.
UAV-based gas monitoring: Application scenarios
Real-world use cases for MetScan V1
Natural gas wells: Capture leakage valves, flanges, and other components from a distance in high spatial resolution and precisely locate them at centimetre level.
Aboveground and underground natural gas pipelines: Acquire dense methane concentration data along pipelines with the MetScan V1's automated belt-type scanning and 50 Hz sampling rate. The SSI platform instantly renders data into actionable and presentable information.
High-rise building: Capture natural gas leaks inside (through windows) and outside high-rise residences. MetScan V1 automatically estimates the relative altitude of the target point to help show which apartment is at potential risk.
