Mavic 3 Vs Mavic 3 Cine - Key Features

The Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine have a lot in common, sharing impressive key features such as a dual-camera system (4/3 CMOS Hasselblad sensor and telephoto lens), ability to shoot 5.1K/50fps video and epic 4K/120fps slow-motion, 46 minutes of flight time, and a suite of safety features.

You can read more about these key features in our in-depth Mavic 3 Review.

However, there are a few major differences which set the Mavic 3 and the Mavic 3 Cine apart.

Perhaps the biggest difference is that the Mavic 3 Cine uses Apple ProRes 422 HQ Codec - the industry standard for high-quality video and one of the best practical HD formats available for cinematography.

To complement this, the Cine has an internal 1TB SSD to cater for these larger Apple ProRes files. A microSD card can also be inserted for additional capacity.

In contrast, the standard Mavic 3 has 8GB of onboard storage, plus capacity for a microSD card. It does not use Apple ProRes, instead utilising MP4/MOV (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, HEVC/H.265). Incidentally, the H.264 and H.265 video formats can be used on the Mavic 3 Cine.

The Mavic 3 Cine comes as part of the Mavic 3 Cine Premium Combo, which includes the all-new, next-generation smart controller, the DJI RC Pro. Designed for professional-level aerial photography, this enhanced remote has a next-gen processor, increased storage capacity, a built-in high-bright screen and comes with the powerful O3+ video transmission technology.

In contrast, the Mavic 3 - available as an individual package and also in a Fly More Combo - comes with the DJI RC-N1 Remote Controller, which integrates with devices such as smartphones. However, it is worth mentioning that the DJI RC Pro is compatible with the standard Mavic 3, but will need to be purchased separately.

As an aside, the Mavic 3 Cine is slightly heavier than the Mavic 3, weighing in at 899g compared to 895g.

Mavic 3 Vs Mavic 3 Cine - Target Audience

For these reasons, the target audience between the Mavic 3 and the Mavic 3 Cine is perhaps different.

The standard Mavic 3 is arguably best-suited to tech-savvy amateur or semi-pro content creators who want to benefit from the latest tech and raise the bar of their aerial photography or filmmaking.

After all, the standard Mavic 3 packs plenty of punch.

In contrast, the Mavic 3 Cine ups the game further, pushing it into the realms of professional filmmakers and production houses.

That Apple ProRes capability and internal 1TB SSD make it an attractive proposition. And the icing on the cake is that the Mavic 3 (both versions) is a lightweight, foldable and portable content-creation tool which can fly for 46 minutes - enabling more time to capture breathtaking and dynamic shots.

Mavic 3 Vs Mavic 3 Cine - Price

The Mavic 3 Cine's additional features make it a more expensive package than the standard Mavic 3.

It's worth noting that the Cine is currently only available within the Cine Premium Combo, whereas the standard Mavic 3 can be purchased either individually or within the Fly More Combo.

At launch, the Mavic 3 Cine Premium Combo is priced £4,279, while the Mavic 3 Fly More Combo is £2,549, and the standard individual package is £1,879.

Mavic 3 Vs Mavic 3 Cine - What's In The Box

It isn't just the extra capabilities which differentiate the Mavic 3 and the Mavic 3 Cine: The latter also comes with a wider array of accessories in the box, including the powerful DJI RC Pro, as mentioned previously, and extra sets of Mavic 3 ND Filters (these are also available separately).

This table shows the difference between the Mavic 3 individual package, the Mavic 3 Fly More Combo and the Mavic 3 Cine Premium Combo.

DJI Mavic 3 Cine Vs Mavic 3 - Summary

The Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine are amazing content-creation tools, sharing some incredible specs, such as the 46 minute flight time and that 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad sensor.

The big difference between the Mavic 3 and Mavic 3 Cine is the Cine's ability to use Apple ProRes 422 HD Codec. It also comes with an internal 1TB SSD. This, coupled with the Mavic 3 Cine's more expensive tag, probably pushes it more into the hands of pro-level content creators.

Also, don't forget that the Mavic 3 Cine Premium Combo features a more comprehensive 'what's in the box', complete with the DJI RC Pro and more ND Filters.

But the versatility of the Mavic 3 - especially the Fly More Combo and individual package - does enable it to appeal to a wider audience.
