
DJI Mini 5 Pro First Use Guide (RC-N3)

This guide explains how to set up the DJI Mini 5 Pro with the RC-N3, including activation, firmware updates and the key controls for your first flight.

Installing DJI Fly
The DJI Fly app is required to operate the aircraft.
Scan the QR code on the package to download and install the latest version.
Preparing the aircraft
Unfasten the strap and remove the gimbal protector.
Press the power button once to activate the aircraft battery.
The aircraft includes internal storage and supports microSD cards for extra capacity. The USB-C port can be used for charging when the aircraft is powered off.
Unfold the arms. When the right rear arm is unfolded, the aircraft powers on automatically.
You can also turn it on by pressing the power button once, then pressing and holding for two seconds.
Preparing the RC-N3
Remove the control sticks from the storage slots and mount them.
Pull out the mobile device holder to access the controller cable.
Check the connector marked with an RC icon is securely inserted.
Remove the other connector, unwind it to the right, and place it behind the non-slip pads.
Place your smartphone in the holder with the charging port on the right, then secure it.
Connect the controller cable.
Press the power button once, then press and hold for two seconds to turn on the RC-N3.
Activating the devices
Open the DJI Fly app.
Log in with your DJI account. New users must register before logging in.
Follow the prompts to activate the aircraft. An internet connection is required.
If you plan to purchase DJI Care Refresh, complete purchasing and binding within 48 hours of activation. You may skip this step if not required.
Updating firmware
If a firmware update is available, a prompt will appear.
Tap the prompt, then tap Update to bring all devices to the latest firmware version.
For safety and best performance, update immediately.
Do not power off the aircraft or exit DJI Fly during the process.
After updating, the aircraft will power off automatically.
Pre-flight checks
Choose an open, unobstructed flight area.
Ensure the propellers and battery are securely installed and unfolded before take-off.
Place the aircraft on level ground with the rear facing you.
Set the flight mode switch on the controller to Normal Mode.
Open DJI Fly, go to System Settings > Safety, set obstacle avoidance to Bypass or Brake, and set the RTH height above any surrounding structures.
Ensure the GNSS icon stays white before take-off.
Auto take-off and landing
Tap the Takeoff icon and press and hold to enable Auto Take-off.
The aircraft will lift and hover automatically.
To land, tap the Landing icon and press and hold to confirm.
The aircraft will descend and stop the motors.
Manual take-off and landing
Push both sticks inward or outward to start the motors.
Gently push the left stick up to take off manually.
To land, pull the left stick down.
Basic Flight Controls:
Left stick:
Up/down – ascend/descend
Left/right – rotate the aircraft
Right stick:
Up/down – fly forward/backward
Left/right – fly left/right horizontally
Keep the controller positioned to maintain a strong signal.
Camera controls
Press the Photo/Video button once to switch between photo and video modes.
Tap the camera icon to switch between Auto and Manual shooting.
Tap the parameter menu to adjust camera settings.
Tap the portrait icon to switch quickly to vertical mode.
Press the Shutter/Record button to take photos or record videos.
Use the gimbal dial to adjust tilt.
Tap the Playback icon to view or download footage.
Return to Home (RTH)
Press and hold the RTH button on the controller or tap the RTH icon in DJI Fly and hold to confirm.
The aircraft will fly back to the most recent home point and land.
Powering off and storage
Fold the right rear arm to trigger the power-off voice prompt.
Press any aircraft button to cancel if needed.
You can also power off manually: press the power button once, then press and hold for two seconds on both aircraft and controller.
After powering off, fold the propellers by pinching the centre of each blade, pushing both sides inward, then folding them.
Handle carefully—propeller blades are sharp.
Do not heavily overlap blades to avoid wear or deformation
Fold all arms, rotate propellers into the storage position, and ensure the gimbal camera faces forward.
Install the gimbal cover and snap it into place.
Adjust propellers so they sit securely under the cover, then fasten the strap.
Fold the controller antennas, remove the control sticks, and store them in the designated slots.
