Control method

What it means

Gesture Control

Easily adjust Neo 2’s direction and proximity with one or both hands.

Point your palm toward the drone to guide it up, down, or side to side, or use both palms for precise control over proximity.

No remote controller is needed for camera angle adjustment.

Voice Control via Mobile

Neo 2 supports voice control, allowing you to send flying commands using your smartphone or Bluetooth earphones with complete freedom, whether on a run or cycling.

When connected to your phone, it can capture audio and intelligently reduce noise, automatically filtering out propeller noise.

This feature enables you to record content independently on your own.

Voice Control requires connecting DJI Neo 2 to a mobile phone via Wi-Fi.

Mobile App Control

Control Neo 2 with virtual joysticks on the DJI Fly app interface and quickly delve into the joy of flying with no need for a separate purchase of a remote controller.

Mobile App Control requires connecting DJI Neo 2 to a mobile phone via Wi-Fi.

RC Control

When paired with DJI RC-N3 remote controller, Neo 2 can achieve a maximum video transmission distance of 6km (10km CE).

Operate the camera using traditional RC control sticks when you need to capture professional-level shots.

Motion Control

When paired with the motion controller and goggles, Neo 2 supports motion control, Easy ACRO, offering an immersive FPV experience.

2: Palm take off and landing

DJI Neo 2 features an onboard display for intuitive shooting mode selection.

To launch, point it at yourself and press the takeoff button with one hand to take off directly from your palm, then perform automatic camera movements.

The new Return-to-Palm feature allows Neo 2 to precisely locate your palm, return safely, and land steadily, making flights easier than ever.

3: Upgraded tracking

DJI Neo 2 enables smooth and stable tracking for running, cycling, and more.

With a maximum tracking speed of 12 m/s, Neo 2 smoothly follows you even during running or cycling.

Added omnidirectional obstacle sensing - we'll come to this later — ensures safer tracking from the front and sides, allowing you to capture fast-motion moments with ease.

Eight-direction tracking (forward, backward, left, right, and four diagonals) enables smoother, more natural follow shots and expands creative possibilities.

In complex environments, the drone can switch to rear tracking mode, steadily keeping the subject in focus and enabling creative freedom with confidence.

With tracking in mind, the table below highlights DJI Neo 2's speed — both generally, and when it is locked on to a subject.

6: DJI Neo 2 smart shooting modes

Neo 2 supports intelligent shooting modes such as Dolly Zoom, QuickShots, and MasterShots, offering diverse perspectives and making standout footage simple to create.

To help you capture the moments that matter, DJI Neo 2 has a flight time of up to 19 minutes, and a 10.7 m/s wind-speed resistance.

DJI Neo 2 can store up to 49GB of storage onboard. This is handy as the drone does not accommodate external microSD cards.

After capturing content, benefit from QuickTransfer with file transfer speeds up to 80 MB/s. This ensures your footage is available instantly.

7: Enhanced safety helps you fly with confidence

DJI Neo 2 is a super-safe drone — giving you confidence during flight and making it ideal for beginners.

The omnidirectional monocular vision system, combined with forward-facing LiDAR and a downward infrared sensing system, detects obstacles in real time for safe, confident flying.

Meanwhile, the full coverage propeller guard design provides all-around protection, giving beginners peace of mind when operating the drone.

DJI Neo 2 also features smart Return to Home (RTH) functionality. When using palm takeoff or mobile app control, Neo 2 will return to the home point after completing its course. When using a remote controller or immersive motion control, Neo 2 supports RTH and Failsafe RTH, activating obstacle avoidance during the return for enhanced safety and beginner-friendly operation.

8: Sub 250g, regulation-friendly drone

DJI Neo is a compact and lightweight drone tipping the scales at 151g, or 160g with the DJI Neo 2 Digital Transceiver (we'll come to this next).

Neo 2's weight places it in the safest drone category. This means it can be flown in the A1 subcategory of the Open Category (flights over people), without officially requiring training, such as the A2 CofC — although we recommend it to promote enhanced pilot confidence and performance.

When it comes to drone registration in the UK, you do not require a Flyer ID (although it is recommended) for the DJI Neo 2 up until the end of 2025, although an Operator ID is required.

From the start of 2026 in the UK, a Flyer ID will be required to fly the DJI Neo 2, as well as an Operator ID.

Learn more about the Flyer ID and Operator ID in our in-depth Flyer ID vs Operator ID article.

9: DJI Neo 2 Digital Transceiver

DJI Neo 2 brings with it the Digital Transceiver.

When flying the drone with a remote controller or goggles, install DJI Neo 2 Digital Transceiver for stable, low‑latency video transmission.

The Transceiver is required to utilise the DJI O4 transmission system, providing a transmission distance of 6km (CE)/10km (FCC).

Without it, Neo 2 uses WiFi video transmission, with a range of 500m.

The DJI Neo 2 Digital Transceiver is included in the DJI Neo 2 Fly More Combo and DJI Neo 2 Motion Fly More Combo, and can also be purchased separately.

10: Versatile flight options

DJI Neo 2 is a versatile drone, compatible with a range of DJI controllers and goggles.

Not only does this provide a range of flight options, but it also means that DJI Neo 2 can fit seamlessly into your existing DJI arsenal and you can use compatible hardware you already own.

Compatible controllers:

  • DJI RC 2: Smart controller with built-in high-bright screen.

  • DJI RC-N3 Remote Controller: Standard controller, requiring a separate smart device.

  • DJI RC-N2 Remote Controller: Standard controller, requiring a separate smart device.

  • DJI RC Motion 3: Control the drone with wrist movements for an innovative and immersive experience.

  • DJI FPV Remote Controller 3: Supports Manual mode control, suited for advanced users to practice and master more sophisticated skills.

Compatible goggles:

  • DJI Goggles 3: DJI's premium goggles, with a 1080p Micro-OLED screen and Real View PiP.

  • DJI Goggles N3: Features a single 1080p ultra-wide screen with a 54° field of view.

It's worth noting that, when Neo 2 is used with DJI RC Motion 3 or DJI FPV Remote Controller 3, only DJI Goggles 3 and DJI Goggles N3 are supported.

In terms of the wider accessory ecosystem, DJI Neo 2 supports the DJI Neo 2 Two-Way Charging Hub, which can charge three batteries simultaneously to increase charging speed and efficiency. It comes as part of the DJI Neo 2 Fly More Combo and DJI Neo 2 Motion Fly More Combo, and can be purchased separately.
