Heritage conservation with DJI Matrice 4E

Detailed 3D model shows the enhanced surveying capabilities of the DJI Matrice 4E drone.

This dataset shows the modelling capabilities of the new DJI Matrice 4E - which is packed with features to streamline 3D model acquisition. Our in-house geospatial team benefited from features on the drone such as:

  • Smart 3D Capture: Create rough models on the remote controller and generate precise mapping routes.

  • 5-directional Oblique Capture: The gimbal rotates and shoots at multiple angles - enhancing survey efficiency.

  • Dedicated Surveying Payload: 4/3 CMOS 20MP sensor with mechanical shutter, supporting a 0.5-second interval shooting for high-speed surveying.

  • Distortion Correction 2.0: High-precision in-camera distortion correction. When used with DJI Terra, it significantly improves reconstruction accuracy.

Thanks to Historic England and site owners - the Tracey family - for giving us access to create the model of the Grade II*-listed Thorpe Salvin Hall and showcase how the DJI Matrice 4E can be deployed for heritage conservation.
