What does the Remote Pilot Competency (RPC) framework consist of?
The Remote Pilot Competency (RPC) framework is the CAA's new competency-based qualification structure for drone operators. It is designed to provide a clear progression pathway for remote pilots, from foundational operational skills through to more advanced capabilities.
The RPC framework consists of three levels:
Qualification | Intended operational scope |
RPC-L1 | Part A - VLOS operations (this is the current heliguy™ RPC-L1 course) Part B - BVLOS with visual mitigations. |
RPC-L2 | VLOS, and BVLOS Operations in ARC-a, i.e. where there is no other air traffic expected. |
RPC-L3 | VLOS, and BVLOS operations up to ARC-c |
