DJI Neo 2 - First Use Guide (Motion Fly More Combo)

Step by step tutorial for activation, firmware updates and first-flight controls using motion controller and goggles.

This guide walks you through setting up your Neo 2 Motion Fly More Combo for the first time, including activation, firmware updates and basic flight controls.

Installing DJI Fly

  1. The DJI Fly app is required to operate the aircraft.

  2. Scan the QR code on the package to download and install the latest version.

Preparing the aircraft

  1. Press down to remove the gimbal protector.

  2. Press the power button once to activate the aircraft battery and check the battery level.

  3. The aircraft includes internal storage. When the aircraft is powered off, the USB-C port can be used for charging.

  4. Press once, then press and hold the power button for two seconds to power on the aircraft, motion controller, and goggles.

Preparing the goggles

  1. Unfold the antennas.

  2. Adjust the headbands on both sides.*

  3. Use the adjustment knob on the battery compartment to set the headband length.

When using the goggles for the first time, follow the on-screen instructions to learn the button functions.

*You can wear glasses under the goggles if needed.

Activating the devices

  1. Use the supplied USB-C cable or another suitable cable to connect the goggles to your smartphone.

  2. Keep your phone connected to the internet, then open DJI Fly.

  3. Register or log in to your DJI account and follow the prompts to activate all devices.*

*If you plan to purchase DJI Care Refresh, complete the purchase and binding within 48 hours of activation. You can skip this step if it is not required.

Updating firmware

If a firmware update is available, a prompt will appear. Tap the prompt, then tap Update to bring all devices to the latest firmware version.

The devices may restart during the update. This is normal. Do not power off the aircraft or close DJI Fly.

After the update, the aircraft will power off automatically.

Pre-flight checks

  1. Make sure the flight area is open, bright, and free from obstacles.

  2. Check that surfaces have clear patterns for positioning.

  3. Ensure the battery, digital transceiver, propellers, and propeller guards are securely mounted.

  4. Place the aircraft on level ground with the rear facing you.

  5. Confirm the GNSS icon is white and that “Home point updated” appears in the goggles.

Flight tutorial

Before your first flight, you will be guided through the Motion Controller Flight Tutorial.

Follow the steps in the goggles to learn basic flight operations.

Press the Back button on the goggles if you want to skip.

The aircraft will fly in Beginner Mode during the tutorial, which limits flight speed.

After completion, open the goggles menu and go to Status > Beginner Mode to disable it.

Basic flight controls

  1. Press the lock button twice to start the motors.

  2. Press and hold the lock button to take off. The aircraft will rise to about 1.2 m and hover.

  3. To land, press and hold the lock button while hovering.

Accelerator

Press the accelerator to fly forwards or backwards.

You will feel two stops:

  • At the first stop, tilt the motion controller left or right to adjust orientation.

  • At the second stop, the aircraft flies in the direction shown by the circle in the goggles. Tilt up or down to climb or descend.

Apply more pressure to increase speed.

Push the accelerator forward to fly in reverse.

Release the accelerator to hover.

When hovering, tilting left or right will not change orientation, but tilting up or down will adjust gimbal tilt.

Press the lock button to brake and hover.

During braking, orientation and gimbal tilt cannot be adjusted, but you can use the AR Cursor to change settings.

Press the lock button again to regain flight control.

Joystick

Move the joystick up or down to ascend or descend.

Move it left or right to fly sideways.

Use the joystick and accelerator together to adjust flight attitude.

Flight modes

The motion controller has Normal Mode and Sport Mode.

Normal Mode is enabled by default.

After take-off, press the Mode button to switch modes.

Sport Mode increases flight speed while keeping the same control logic.

Camera controls

Press the shutter/record button to take a photo or start/stop recording.

Press and hold the button to switch between photo and video modes.

Return to Home (RTH)

Press and hold the Mode button to initiate RTH.

The aircraft will fly back to the Home Point and land.

Press the lock button once to cancel RTH.

After cancellation, normal control returns.

Powering off and storage

Press once, then press and hold the power button for two seconds to power off the aircraft, goggles, and motion controller.

Check and remove any debris from the aircraft body and sensors.

Reattach the gimbal protector.

When storing the aircraft, avoid placing long-term pressure on the digital transceiver antennas to prevent deformation.
