Drone defence specialist Heliguy has formed a strategic partnership with Altitude Angel, the industry-leading UTM (Unmanned Traffic Management) technology provider.

The aim of the alliance is to provide a 360° UTM/Counter-UAS solution to aerodromes and strategic infrastructure owners across the globe.

The partnership, which will see both businesses working together across a range of functions, is the formalisation of a collaboration which developed throughout 2018 when Heliguy joined Operation Zenith - a ground-breaking programme of live demonstrations of Air Traffic Management (ATM) and UTM integration in controlled airspace, powered by Altitude Angel’s GuardianUTM platform.

Toby Potter, Altitude Angel, VP, Sales & Partnerships, with Michael Smith, who is Heliguy's Counter-UAS lead.

GuardianUTM provides a rich and dynamic source of accurate, authoritative and relevant information to support geofencing, while offering enhanced UTM capabilities such as a single interface to multi-country flight authorisation.

Under the Heliguy Detect brand, Heliguy works with a breadth of leading technology partners to offer a comprehensive and layered drone-defence solution. Heliguy is a supplier of drone defence to major airports in the UK, including Gatwick, as well as prisons and critical infrastructure.

Since Operation Zenith, the two companies have been discussing ways in which they can best partner and collaborate, utilising each company’s unique strengths and assets as well as mutual beliefs and values.

'Together, We Can Provide Innovative And Market-leading Solutions'

Reflecting on the partnership, Michael Smith, Heliguy's Counter-UAS lead, said: "We are delighted to enter into a partnership with Altitude Angel, a world-leading provider of UTM systems.

"Both companies share a similar vision, to innovate, expand and grow the UAV industry. The collaboration will see us work together to help to open up and welcome authorised, legitimate drone usage and protect airspace from rogue UAVs, giving airspace managers the confidence and necessary data to be able to better understand the challenges and advantages of integrating UAVs into our skies.

“We are in the advanced stages with international airports and major mines around the world to expand our provision to make Heliguy's drone defence solution a truly international system, which will include Altitude Angel as a key partner.”

As well as specialising in drone defence - based around DJI's AeroScope system which has just been endorsed by the UK’s Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure - DJI Gold Partner and European enterprise award winner Heliguy is also a leading supplier and support specialist of DJI drones, offering comprehensive consultancy, training and repairs.

Toby Potter, Altitude Angel, VP sales and partnerships, said: "We are excited to be partnering with Heliguy as together we can provide anyone from ANSPs to airports, private landowners to prisons, with an innovative and market-leading UTM/Counter-UAV solution.

"Like the team at Heliguy, we’re passionate about opening our skies to enable safe and secure drone operations. The combination of our two technologies will provide our customers and partners with a powerful tool through which they can manage drone operations in even the most challenging of environments."
