DJI Mavic Air 2 - Camera, Video and Image Capability
The DJI Mavic Air 2 can capture some seriously good content. Here are the standout features which help you to do this.
4K/60fps Video
Master creative aerial shots thanks to effortlessly smooth 4K/60fps video. The D-Cinelike flat colour profile retains more imaging information for post-processing. The HEVC (H.265) video codec records more image information, uses less storage, and preserves the dynamic range and detail of your footage, ensuring next-level content.
HDR Video
The secret to incredible HDR video is a high-performance Quad Bayer image sensor. A single frame separates exposure levels in different areas, accurately capturing light and dark details. The images are layered to create a colourful, balanced, and eye-catching picture with higher dynamic range.
48MP Photos
With a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor, Mavic Air 2 captures impressive 48MP photos. Get ready to take your aerial content to the next level.
SmartPhoto
Mavic Air 2 features SmartPhoto (12MP resolution), which integrates scene recognition, HyperLight, and HDR into one mode for optimal results.
Scene recognition optimises different camera parameters for various scenes and supports intelligent recognition of five categories: sunset, skies, grass, snow, and trees.
HyperLight optimises photos taken in low-light conditions, resulting in less noise and enhanced clarity.
In strong lighting conditions, HDR significantly improves the dynamic range, adjusting exposure parameters and layering shots for more vibrant, high-quality photos.
Panorama Mode
Mavic Air 2 offers DJI’s most advanced panorama mode, with a higher dynamic range and colours that are vivid and incredibly accurate.
Stabilisation
An enhanced three-axis gimbal stabilises every shot. That means ultra-reliable photos and video, even under windy conditions.
DJI Mavic Air 2 - Intelligent Flight Modes and Object Tracking
DJI Mavic Air 2 benefits from FocusTrack; a suite of easy-to-use intelligent tracking modes, including Active Track 3.0, Spotlight, and Point of Interest 3.0.
So what do these mean?
Spotlight 2.0
Fly freely while the camera remains locked on the subject with this convenient mode. Simply select your subject and fly.
ActiveTrack 3.0
Following subjects while avoiding obstacles is smoother than ever with the latest version of DJI’s ActiveTrack technology. With better pathfinding and a faster and more accurate prediction of lost subjects, this technology keeps your subject in the centre of the frame, even if they move behind a tree.
POI 3.0
POI 3.0 improves the capabilities of POI 2.0, especially the recognition of flat surfaces. Where POI 2.0 might lose the target while tracking, this improved feature does not. POI 3.0 is now also able to dynamically track objects like people, cars, and boats.
8K Hyperlapse
DJI Mavic Air 2 supports Hyperlapse in 8K, allowing you to warp time and space for especially stunning footage. Best of all, you can achieve this shot without complex post-processing. Choose between various modes, select the shooting location, and the DJI Fly app will do the rest.
QuickShots
Capture cinematic video clips automatically with QuickShots. With just a few taps, Mavic Air 2 plans and flies a complicated aerial route for a professional-quality shot. Add music, effects, and filters with super-intuitive Story templates so you can share your masterpiece directly to social media. QuickShots options are Dronie, Circle, Helix, Rocket, Boomerang and Asteroid.
DJI Mavic Air 2 - Enhanced Flight Safety
The DJI Mavic Air 2 has a range of enhanced flight safety features, including dual frequency auto-switching, OcuSync 2.0, and APAS 3.0.
Here are the features in more detail:
OcuSync 2.0
OcuSync 2.0 has a video transmission distance of up to 10km (FCC, or 6km CE) and can also deliver 1080p FHD resolution live stream directly from the drone’s camera. Enjoy more freedom for exploring and more clarity for that perfect shot.
2.4/5.8GHz Dual Frequency Auto-Switching
Mavic Air 2 supports 2.4/5.8GHz dual-frequency communication and automatically switches to the best channel with the lowest interference in real-time. This significantly improves the aircraft's anti-interference ability in challenging environments, increasing flight safety.
Obstacle Avoidance
The DJI Mavic Air 2 has three-way directional sensing:
Forward: Vision sensor accurate up to 22 metres.
Backward: Vision sensor accurate up to 23.6 metres.
Downward: Vision sensor, infrared sensor.
An auxiliary light improves visibility, visual positioning and helps with a safe landing.
APAS 3.0
Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS) 3.0 utilises an advanced mapping technology for smooth following and reliable obstacle avoidance in complex scenarios.
APAS 3.0 has been dramatically improved compared to previous generations. The system generates a real-time map of its surroundings and currently offers the best obstacle avoidance available on a DJI aircraft.
AirSense
The DJI Mavic Air 2 is DJI’s first consumer drone designed to include AirSense technology, which provides enhanced safety by warning drone pilots of other aircraft nearby.
AirSense uses aviation technology known as ADS-B to receive signals from nearby airplanes and helicopters, and displays their location on the drone pilot’s control screen.
As these other aircraft approach the drone, AirSense will warn the drone pilot with messages, sounds and vibrations, enhancing the pilot’s awareness and ability to move the drone safely away.
Please note that, initially, Mavic Air 2 units equipped with AirSense/ADS-B will only be available in North America. A version of the Mavic Air 2 is available outside of North America without ADS-B. The two models are identical in all other aspects, such as flight and imaging performance.
DJI has said that it is working towards making ADS-B-equipped Mavic Air 2 drones available globally and will update when this timing has been confirmed.
DJI Mavic Air 2 - Long Flight Time
The DJI Mavic Air 2 has an impressive battery life of up to 34 minutes.
The drone has a maximum flight speed of 68kph (42.2mph) in Sport mode.
DJI Mavic Air 2 - DJ Fly App
The DJI Fly app makes creating flawless videos more convenient than ever. The built-in DJI Mimo app editor provides manual settings, advanced functions, and intuitive templates, allowing you to create professional compositions in seconds.
DJI Mavic Air 2 - New Remote Controller
Operate your drone with a new remote controller, which benefits from a long battery life of 240 minutes.
This newly-designed controller has an ergonomic design for a more comfortable grip.
The new clamp makes attaching smartphones fast and easy, while integrated antennas significantly improve user experience.
Smart Controller Compatibility
Thanks to a firmware update, pilots can also fly the Mavic Air 2 with the DJI Smart Controller to optimise their flying experience.
There are many benefits of using the Smart Controller. These include:
Built-in 5.5-inch 1080p screen; ultra-bright display, even in direct sunlight.
At 1000 cd/m2, the display is approximately 2x as bright as conventional smart device screens.
-20°C to 40°C operating temperature.
DJI Smart Controller connects to your drone as soon as it's powered for fast deployment.
Integrated design with detachable control sticks makes the Smart Controller a portable option.
OcuSync 2.0 Full-HD video transmission.
DJI Mavic Air 2 - ND Filters
The DJI Mavic Air 2 offers two ND filter sets that help control exposure and provide more creative options.
The ND 16/64/256 set is helpful when adjusting shutter speed and in extreme lighting conditions, while the ND 4/8/32 set enables vivid, bright images even with low ISO values.
ND 16/64/256 filters are included in the Fly More Combo. The ND 4/8/32 filter set can be purchased separately.
