Choosing the Right Controller - Smart Controllers
The DJI RC Pro 2, DJI RC Pro, DJI RC 2 , and DJI RC offer built-in screens, DJI Fly pre-installed, and remove the need for a smartphone.
These remotes come with DJI Fly pre-installed, and the RC Pro and RC Pro 2 allows operators to download third-party software, significantly improving missions.
DJI RC Pro 2
The DJI RC Pro 2 improves on the original RC Pro with a bigger, brighter 7-inch Mini-LED display (up from 5.5 inches), offering 2000 nits peak brightness, 10-bit colour, and HDR support for sharper, more accurate visuals. The rotatable screen allows quick switching between horizontal and vertical shooting—something the RC Pro doesn’t offer.

It also features a foldable design with auto-deploying sticks and one-motion power on/off, speeding up setup. Enterprise-grade antennas provide stronger video transmission, and 128GB of internal storage (up from 32GB) gives more space for files and third-party apps.
Other upgrades include a built-in mic with DJI Mic support and up to 4 hours of battery life, one hour more than the RC Pro.
DJI RC Pro 2 Top Features:
Upgraded Display: Larger 7″ Mini-LED screen with 2000 nits peak brightness and 10-bit colour — brighter and more immersive than the RC Pro’s 5.5″ 1000-nit screen.
Rotatable Screen: Enables seamless horizontal or vertical framing, synced with the drone’s gimbal — a feature not available on the RC Pro.
Faster Setup: Collapsible design powers on instantly with auto-deploying sticks for quicker launches.
Improved Transmission: Enterprise-grade antennas offer even stronger and more stable video feeds than the RC Pro’s O3+.
Built-in Audio: Integrated mic with DJI Mic support for direct, high-quality sound capture — not included in the RC Pro.
Longer Runtime: Up to 4 hours per charge (vs 3 hours on RC Pro).
Expanded Storage: 128GB onboard vs 32GB on the RC Pro, both support third-party apps.
Compatibility: DJI Mavic 4 Pro, Mini 4 Pro, Air 3S, and Air 3.
DJI RC Pro
The DJI RC Pro was one of DJI’s first smart controllers to support third-party app downloads, giving users the freedom to install DJI apps or APK files via the built-in browser or microSD card. With 32GB of internal storage and expandable memory, it offers more flexibility than standard smartphone-based controllers.
While this was a standout feature at launch, newer models like the RC Pro 2 now offer greater storage capacity, a larger display, and additional pro features, making the RC Pro a capable but no longer top-tier option in DJI’s current lineup.

More perks of this remote include superior video transmission (DJI O3+), a 5.5-inch 1080p display with 1000 nits brightness, and up to three hours of battery life. Additionally, it supports Wi-Fi 6 for fast connectivity and offers a high-performance processor for seamless control, making it ideal for professional drone pilots.
DJI RC Pro Top Features:
Third-Party Downloads: Download third-party apps via the built-in browser or a microSD card.
Next-Gen Control: Offers a smoother, more intuitive flying experience with advanced features.
Superior Video Transmission: Enhanced antenna power and DJI O3+ support for high transmission rates and extended range.
High-Bright Display: 5.5-inch 1080p screen with 1000 nits brightness for clear visibility, even in direct sunlight.
Long Battery Life: Up to 3 hours of operation, with a quick 90-minute recharge.
Fast Connectivity: Wi-Fi 6 support for up to 100Mbps transmission and 80MB/s download speeds.
High Performance: Latest-gen processor with 4x better CPU, 7x better GPU performance, and 20% lower power consumption.
Compatbility: DJI Mavic 3 Pro, Mavic 3 Pro Cine, Mavic 3, Mavic 3 Classic and Mavic 3 Cine, Mini 3 Pro, and Air 2S.
