Heliguy has staged its first Drones for Enterprise event, which provided pilots with a wealth of knowledge about the industry and a clear idea of how to turn their hobby into a commercial venture.

Yesterday's session was held at Lumley Castle, in County Durham, and attracted people with a mix of experience, from those who had never flown a drone through to PfCO (Permission for Commercial Operation) holders.

"I thought the event was very good. There was a lot of information and the course was filled properly with relevant and necessary content," - Kris Fagan, course attendee.

The informal and engaging three-hour course took attendees through a selection of DJI drones (sold by Heliguy) and their potential applications. The course - aimed at hobbyists and potential commercial operators - also provided an overview of the legal complexities that pilots might encounter when operating a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) and the options available to make a business out of flying.

Our Drones for Enterprise event had a flexible format tailored to meet the needs of specific attendees and the intimate nature ensured that they were given ample opportunity to ask a range of questions, depending on their requirements.

The event attracted positive feedback from those who came along. One of those was Kris Fagan, of Aspect Aerial Imagery, who said: "I thought the event was very good. There was a lot of information and the course was filled properly with relevant and necessary content, which included giving us a good understanding of the laws. As an added bonus, Lumley Castle was a very beautiful setting."

Edward Jackson, Heliguy's Head of Training, was pleased with the debut event. He said: "Our first Drones for Enterprise event went well. Attendees had a cross-section of experience and all of them took something from the day - whether that was learning more about the rules and regulations of operating a drone, through to more advanced subjects, such as drone mapping and photogrammetry.

"More and more people are reaping the benefits of drones and our Drones for Enterprise event proved to be a very good introduction for pilots entering the industry."
