Drone specialist Heliguy has been named as one of the 50 fastest-growing companies across the North East of England.
The Fastest 50 list recognises those market-leading companies inspiring belief, spearheading innovation and driving change. It is compiled by UK Top 100 law firm Ward Hadaway and supported by The Journal newspaper.
The Ward Hadaway North East Fastest 50 highlights and celebrates the achievements of fast-growing, profitable companies in the region by compiling and publishing an annual list of the 50 fastest-growing privately-owned businesses across the region.
DJI Gold Partner Heliguy, based in North Shields and having recently opened a base in Dallas, Texas, as part of an exciting American launch - has made it into the 2019 list after achieving three years of strong turnover growth while still remaining profitable.
Heliguy attended the Ward Hadaway North East Fastest 50 Awards 2019, on Friday, October 11, and we were named as the fourth fastest-growing small business and the 15th fastest-growing overall.
Heliguy’s Operations Director Scott Henderson said: "We are delighted that Heliguy has made it into the 2019 Fastest 50 list and we are looking forward to tomorrow's awards ceremony.
"This recognition is the result of meticulous planning, dedication and passion from the whole team. We have nurtured our customers, enabling them to advance faster in the commercial drone industry and we are now looking to the future – recognition as a brand synonymous with one of the most exciting and challenging industries in the world."

"What unites the businesses we see here is that they all continue to innovate, disrupt and challenge. They are investing in their people and their customers and driving change, even in uncertain times, and this is fueling their growth.
"I’m looking forward to meeting them and hearing their stories at the awards ceremony.”
The Ward Hadaway North East Fastest 50 has been published every year since 1998 and is compiled and organised by law firm Ward Hadaway, which has offices in Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester.
Heliguy - Flying High In The Drone Industry
Heliguy is no stranger to winning awards.
Last month, we were named as a National Winner in the prestigious 2019 European Business Awards – one of the world’s largest business competitions.
Chosen from hordes of entries, Heliguy wowed a panel of independent judges to be selected as one of the UK’s elite in the Customer and Market Engagement Award with Turnover of €0-25million category.
Heliguy will now go head-to-head with businesses across Europe at a showpiece judging and gala ceremony in Warsaw, Poland, on December 3 and 4, to battle it out for the top prize.
Recognition in the European Business Awards came after we were honoured with a Top 10 Partner of the Year (Europe) award from DJI Enterprise in the summer. This accolade recognised our industry-leading approach to servicing the enterprise drone market utilising a range of DJI equipment, from top-of-the-range drones, to high-class sensors and ancillaries.
Last year, we were presented with the Retail and Service Provider Award at the renowned North Tyneside Business Awards 2018, thanks to the company’s outstanding customer service and passion to develop the drone industry.
These awards were followed by Heliguy being invited to talk at DJI’s flagship drone conference, AirWorks, in Los Angeles, last month. Business Development Manager Ruairi Hardman presented a talk about global collaboration in the drone industry, in conjunction with our client Terra Drone Europe, and he announced the news about Heliguy launching in America.
It is a sign of how far the company has come since forming just over a decade ago.
Over the years, the company, which currently employs 23 people, has grown its reputation within the drone industry and is the UK’s leading retailer of DJI.
Heliguy sells a range of consumer and commercial drones, including those which are changing the landscape in the enterprise sector, such as the DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise, DJI M200 Series and the DJI Phantom 4 RTK.
Heliguy also specialises in drone detection and has installed DJI AeroScope at a number of airports around the UK.
Clients of Heliguy include Balfour Beatty, Sellafield Sites, the BBC, and National Grid. We also look after more than 40 UK emergency services, including Greater Manchester Police and London Fire Brigade.
Earlier this year, we were awarded a major nationwide contract with Network Rail, as part of an Unmanned Aircraft Services framework worth up to £2.6million. We came through a rigorous selection process to be specially chosen to supply, maintain, repair and service Network Rail’s drones, as well as to deliver expert training to the infrastructure group’s in-house pilots.
As the UK’s largest and most-established one-stop-shop drone provider, Heliguy also offers a DJI-accredited repair centre and R&D lab. We are also a renowned training provider, running industry-leading courses such as the Permission for Commercial Operation (PfCO), Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and Emergency Services Drone Operators Training (ES-DOT).
Heliguy has designed and performed closed training courses for a range of commercial clients including UK police forces and other critical government enterprise.
Heliguy is accredited by the CAA, Achilles, CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and Cyber Essentials and is also ISO 9001 rated.
