Top Five Spark Accessories
To coincide with the new Spark marketing campaign from DJI, the Heliguy team have been looking at the best accessories currently available for the Spark.
The Spark is the ideal quadcopter for the consumer market. Despite its small size, it is powerful and packed full of DJI’s Intelligent Flight Modes. Gesture controls are available to give pilots the ability to fly the Spark simply with their hands.
The accessories available for the Spark can improve the user experience by furthering the control over the aircraft, improving its safety and providing a more advanced creative outlet.
The Spark is available as a standalone aircraft or part of the Fly More Combo which comes with additional propellers, the Spark Remote Controller, prop guards, additional batteries, a charging hub and carry case.
Keep reading to find out which accessories will give you more out of the superb and compact aircraft.
The remote controller increases the range of the Spark to 1.2 miles (2km) through its new dual-band HD Wi-Fi transmission system of 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz. The transmission band can be set manually or, when using the DJI GO 4 app, you can have the app automatically select the best frequency. When using a mobile device alone, the maximum distance of the Spark is 100 meters and a maximum height of 50 meters.
The remote controller also allows you to access the Sport Mode for the Spark. This increases the speed to 31 mph (50 kph).
A 720p real-time video transmission is available when using the Spark, giving clear and accurate control. The remote controller also has a battery life of around 2.5 hours, lasting for multiple Spark charges.
Using the Spark with a remote controller instantly gives pilots a better user experience by allowing them to fly further, faster and with less chance of interference. We highly recommend the Spark remote controller at Heliguy, The remote controller available as part of the Fly More Combo along with other additional accessories.
The prop guards offer greater safety during flight for the pilot, the public and the Spark. They are particularly beneficial when performing a hand launch or hand catch of the aircraft due to the pilot’s proximity to the props.
They are easy to install and remove attaching with a simple clip to the aircraft’s arms.
There is a minimal effect on the flight time and performance of the aircraft due to their light weight of around 10g per guard.
The prop guards are a great accessory for safety conscious Spark pilots. They significantly reduce the risk of accidents with the propellers to the pilot, especially when using the PalmControl.
Hoodman 3 ft Launch Pad
A launch pad is a great accessory to be used with any drone, but especially useful with the Spark. The small feet of the Spark makes it difficult to land on grass, sand or on an uneven surface.
Using a landing pad increases the areas you can take off and land the Spark, without having to hand launch and catch. The launch pad also stops dirt getting into the mechanism of the Spark or on the drone’s camera.
The Hoodman Launch Pad has a quick-spring setup which can be done in seconds. Simply open the bag and the pad pops into shape. It can also be folded away with ease.
Not only is the launch pad useful to protect the Spark during the take off and landing, it also gives you a highly visible place to set your Home Point for DJI’s RTH function. The area will be clearly marked and you won’t forget where it is if mobile.
The Hoodman Launch Pad is a useful accessory that will give you added peace of mind during take off and landing of your Spark.
The DJI Goggles have been recently added to the DJI range and offer a seamless First-Person View (FPV) control over the Spark and other aircraft with crystal clear transmission.
Recent Firmware updates have improved the functionality of the Spark, allowing the user to take advantage of fixed wing and head tracking flight modes. Your head movements then control the aircraft yaw and camera tilt.
The Goggles OcuSync wireless transmission system reduces latency to just 110ms and lets you share your flight with up to four devices including other DJI Goggles and smartphones in real-time.
Additionally, the DJI Goggles can be used with any HDMI device, thanks to the a dedicated HDMI input. This means you can watch videos, play games and more through the Goggles at the equivalent of standing three meters away from a 216-inch display screen. Although not the primary use of the Goggles, this is a huge bonus for prospective buyers.
The DJI Goggles are a fantastic accessory for any compatible drone, allowing the pilot to be completely immersed in the experience. The added advantage of using the Goggles with any HDMI input improves on an already impressive list of functionalities.
PolarPro Filter Pack – Spark Vivid Collection
There are a number of filters available for the Spark but Heliguy recommends the PolarPro Vivid Collection over the competition. This pack gives all the filters simultaneous Neutral Density (ND) and Polarising (PL) resulting in significantly higher quality images and video.
The ND filter reduces the shutter speed of the camera, giving smooth and high-quality images and video. The PL reduces glare in photos and videos, enhancing the quality and saturation.
The pack includes ND4/PL, ND8/PL and ND16/PL which means a filter option is available in dark scenes like a sunset, up to a bright sunny day.
Using ND/PL filters will make your images instantly pop and gives Spark pilots more out of their images and videos. This can save the need for post-production editing of images as the images are already a high quality. For Spark users, this is a great feature and as photos could instantly be shared on the likes of social media without delay.
The filters are extremely lightweight and are quick and easy to fit on the Spark and great for creative Spark users who want the most out of their images and video.
There are some great accessories available for the powerful little quadcopter. If you want to get more out of the Spark, each of the products we discussed above can help. The standout accessory for control of the Spark is the remote controller as it significantly improves the capabilities of the Spark, allowing the pilot to operate with more confidence and control.
For the more creative, the PolarPro filter pack can enhance the quality of images and video.
Further to the accessories we discussed, carry cases are available for purchase to increase the Spark’s transportability and could benefit many users.
Additional batteries can also benefit Spark pilots as you don’t have to wait for charging, and carrying extra props is always sensible. When you purchase the Spark as the Fly More Combo, these items are included.
We are likely to see additional accessories pop up to give pilots even more and are looking forward to seeing what the future has to offer for the Spark.
